RESUMO

The present work was conducted in order to evaluate the chemical and nutritional composition of 35 protein feeds and 67 energy feeds through the compilation of data from the research works of metabolism trials on swine performed at the Animal Science Department of the UFLA in the period from 1996 to 2002. It was utilized the protein feeds such as of cottonseed meal, soybean meal, micronized soybean, deactivated soybean, extruded soybean, linseed meal, meat and bone meal, pancreas meal, swine viscera meal, skimmed milk powder and corn gluten meal. Being that the energy feeds such as corn common, flaked corn meal, QPM corn, babaÃu meal, millet, wheat meal, LTsorghum (low tannin), coffee hull , sticky coffee hull, ground oats, citrus pulp, bakery by products, cassava by products, cottonseed oil, canola oil, linseed oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, coconut fat, swine fat, bovine fat. All the metabolism trials were performed on animals of similar live weight (43,5 Kg), by using total feces collection methodology. At the same one a metabolism trial by utilizing nine crossbred male, castrated pigs (Landrace x Large White) in the growing phase (50.2 to 61.6 kg of LW) were keept in metabolism cages by using the total feces collection . In this trial both peanuts meal and QPM corn were evaluated. The values obtained of digestible dry matter (DDM), crude protein digestibility coefficient CPDC) and the values of digestible energy (DE) and metabolizable energy (ME) for QPM corn and peanuts meal were 82.5%, 81.2%, 3,308 Kcal/kg, respectively. In general, the data analyzed showed variations in the chemical composition, digestibility and energetic values of the feeds relative to those cited in the Brazilian and foreign tables and values reported by other researchers. The values obtained in the data compilation as well as those obtained in the present metabolism trial in addition to furnishing subsides for the data bank relative to the making of the national feeds table also this data will be able to contribute towards the improvement in swine ration formulation.
