RESUMO

The purpose of this essay is to present a way of using the clinical reasoning in the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) analysis, distinguishing different moments of this reasoning during the analysis process, and thus providing leads and indications to students and psychologists that use this tool in the psychodiagnosis process. This essay is based on the assumption that clinical reasoning used in the evaluation and interpretation of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children data can significantly contribute to a broader understanding of the childs production and organization, and thus, combined with other data obtained with different instruments, to the comprehension of the child and his/hers ways of dealing with the demands of life. To achieve this goal, it was introduced a way of comprehending the psychodiagnosis that emphasizes the role of the intelligence scale in this process. Different conceptions of intelligence are discussed, and the clinical reasoning, as described by Walter Trinca, is used as a subsyde to the qualitative analysis of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC). A clinical case study illustrates how the information obtained through the qualitative interpretation of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children contributes to a broader comprehension of the child.
