RESUMO

A theoretical study about fading channels modeled according to the k-u distribution is developed to obtain the higher order statistics. The k-u density function is a general fading distribution used to model the wave propagation in a non homogeneous environment and includes the Rayleigh, Rice and Nakagami-m density functions as special cases. This dissertation presents several original contributions. The first of all is the development of the level crossing rate and average fade duration expressions. Another important contribution is the development of a channel simulator to generate a k-u fading signal where k can assume real positive values and u is a multiple of 1/2. Finally, this dissertation presents the proof that the k-u envelope derivative with respect to time is Gaussian distributed.
