RESUMO

The optimum sizing of units of Distributed Generation is a problem to which this formulation takes in consideration the reduction of losses in the distribution lines, the voltage control, the capacity (in MW) of the units respecting the operational limits of the system. The main objective of the sizing process is to determine the active and reactive power levels to be inserted in a system of radial distribution in order to reduce its total losses and to carry through voltage control. For this, two techniques of nonlinear programming are implemented: Quadratic Fit Method and Newtons Method. First, the solutions found for the reduction of losses in distribution systems in the literature are presented, working with medium load. The tests are carried out at chosen bars in the beginning, middle and end of the systems, in order to observe the response behavior of the used techniques with nonlinear programming. The second approach, takes in consideration again the literature data, but with one difference: the voltage control. In this test it is used, together to the techniques of mathematical programming, the Method of the Penalties that penalizes the objective function in the case the voltage is not inside of the defined limits. The last approach is carried with distribution systems created to simulate real situations like feeders without ramifications and working within three load levels: low, medium and high. The results of the simulations show massive reductions of the losses in the first approach, and for the second one when the voltage control is exerted, it is observed an increase of the total losses of the system so that the control of voltage in the tested systems is carried out. The main advantage of the suggested approach is its simplicity implementation and its high processing speed.
