RESUMO

Chronic diseases striking peculiarity presented as the duration and risk of complications, which requires a strict control scheme and permanent care, especially the most vulnerable due to potential sequels that may cause functional disability. This highlights the role of the family with regard to its responsibility in the conduct of care to its members (MARCON 1998). According to the Ministry of Health is a big challenge to implement actions to promote public policy, with a commitment to build a pact for the reduction of mortality derived from on cardiovascular complications of hypertension. So it is very important to research and identify self-care, family and professional system of health that arise at meetings of the group of hypertensive patients in family health strategy in primary care. Therefore the planning and development are necessary for the organization of an integrated network of care, based on the guiding principles of health care, and care line to the hypertensives and the development of actions that may intervene in the evolutionary chain, through preventive actions and tracking, looking for signs of low risk and risk for hypertension, minimizing the disease process, intervening in the primary phase. Elsen (1994) states that if one part is easy to recognize that the family is a unit that provides care to its members, the other is difficult to agree that it is always efficient in performing this role. Finally we must broaden the way to assist individuals and families, using an integral approach. It is understood that education is not only to transmit, but to engage in a process of representation of society and man who wants to form a continuous process of reproduction and construction of new cultural values and social codes. In search of health care is urgent re-think our health practices and develop policies for action aimed at family life, depriving the understanding that the family health teams work just the individual, developing a work fragmented and weakened by the absence a critical view. Attend to be creative new strategies contribute to the focus groups, families and community as a proposal for public policy. Involve family in the care process is professional and / or family is to understand the FAMILY as the transmission of cultural values, an institution that educates, trains and encourages but also transforms.
