RESUMO

There are a few programs around the world used for determining the main aspects of the Mooring Design of Semi-submersible platforms. These programs hold a worldwide acknowledgement and their results are actually reliable. But they require many runs to get a solution that comply with the Classification Society requirements. So, the expended time to carry out a complete mooring design is normally large despite the designer experience. In fact it occurs because of the necessary interaction between the user and the calculation program the inputs for a given run (mooring line composition, lines pre-tension, mooring pattem) will depend on the results from the prior mn (platform offsets and line top tensions for the weather conditions) -. Based on this scenario, this work presents some procedures in order to optimize the semi-submersible mooring designas well as to make it auto matic. Regarding the optimization philosophies, the following aspects are treated : 1) the optimization of the plataform heading and the mooring pattem based on the spreading of the environmental forces; 2) the searching for the optimum mooring line composition in an automatic mode. Basically, the work main goal is to introduce some methods to find the lowest cost solution for the mooring system in a short time way. All of these methods were computationally implemented creating the intelligent system named PROANC, which deals with semi submersible mooring design in a quasi-static and deterministic approach. It should be noted that the proposed system exerts a strong appeal as a design tool for feasibility studies of a given oil field and its quasi-statics results can be directly apllied to a mooring program capable of performing dynamic analysis
