RESUMO

In this study, we have evaluated the antimicrobial activity from some plants of the catarinense flora (Abuta sellowana, Calophyllum brasiliense, Coussapoa schottii, Ipomoea pes-caprae, Psyhotria spp., Quiina spp.,Sloanea spp, and the plant known popularly as Lírio do Campo) and the pure compounds isolated from Adiantum cuneatum (filiceno and filicenol), for possible antimicrobial activity by using Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). From a selection, the Calophyllum brasiliense was selected as more promising, and more detailed investigated. The Calophyllum brasiliense, demonstrated to antibacterial and antifungal action against the tested microorganisms. It presented selectivity of action against Gram-positive bacteria, as for example Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus saprophyticcus, Streptococcus agalactie and Bacillus cereus. The isolated pure compounds of C. brasiliense, had not demonstrated activity when tested front to the same microorganisms. These results suggests a synergistic action of some compounds, as well as the presence in low concentration of these compounds. It was did it, the evaluation of the antibactericidal activity, through the determination of Minimal Inhibitory Bactericidal (CBM). Was observed also that C. brasiliense, had activity against filamentous fungi (dermatophytes) and yeast Cryptococcus neoforms.. The pure compounds had been also tested and they had not presented effect. Also evaluated the possible mechanism of action of the antifungical activity, through the method of Neorospora crassa, and these results suggests that the tested compounds had do not act to inhibition of fungal cellular wall. In summary, the results confirm and justify the popular use of this plant, for the treatment of infectious pathologies. Our results suggest that the Calophyllum brasiliense presents a profile of antimicrobiana activity, confirming its popular use as antiinfectious.
