RESUMO

Screening of 30 methanol extracts from plants collected in Lavras city (MG) was conducted using the agar diffusion method to identify antibacterial properties against Aeromonas hydrophila ATCC 7966, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. It was observed that 13 of them presented antibacterial activity. These extracts were submitted to broth microdilution assay to determine the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC). MIC values varied from 0.625 to 1.25 mg/mL, while MBC values varied from 1.25 to 5.00 mg/mL. Among the active plants, Copaifera langsdorffii, Lantana lilacina and Solanum aculeatissimum were selected and submitted to purification processes guided by in vitro assay with the bacteria cited above to identify the antibacterial compounds. Substances were isolated by chromatographic methods and their chemical structures were identified by nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry. From L. lilacina methanol extract was isolated a structure with a glucose, rhamnose, caffeoyl and hydroxytyrosol unit, that was named acteoside. MIC and MBC of such substance against A. hydrophila, B. subtilis, P. aeruginosa e S. aureus were 0.125 mg/mL, 1.00 mg/mL, 0.250 mg/mL and higher than 1.0 mg/mL, respectively. From the methanol extract of S. aculeatissimum were isolated rutin and other substances that were not identified yet. MIC and MBC of rutin were 1.0 mg/mL and higher than 1.0 mg/mL, respectively, against A. hydrophila and both higher than 1.0 mg/mL against B. subtilis, P. aeruginosa and S. aureus. From C. langsdorffii were isolated two substances that are under study to identify their structures.
