RESUMO

The scope of this study was to develop a methodology using the orbital remote sensing methods to evaluate dam s water quality for pisciculture purposes. The orbital data from satellite TM-LANDSAT 5 were compared with water parameters such as: Secchi depth, total solids in suspension and chlorophyll concentration. The samples were taken the same day of the orbital image. During the sampling were measured the water temperatureand water pH (surface,half depth and botton of the dam). The pH, the temperature, and the chlorophyll concentration and solids in suspension were determined in the laboratory. The satellite image was digitally treated. The grey levels was extrated and statiscally correlated to the parameters sampled. The results showed that as the chloropyll content and solids in suspension increased, the Secchi depht value decreased. The pH varied between 6 and 8. It was observed a signifcant correlation among the parameters sampled and the orbital data
