RESUMO

The bacterium Chromobacterium vilaceum which yields 3-[1,2-dihydro-5-(5-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl)-2-oxo-3-ylidene]-1,3- dihydro-2H-indol-2-one (compound 1) was studied. A study of the biosynthetic capacity in the production of components with biological interest between native strain (BB -78), uncoloured strain and apparently mutant. strain obtained by irradiation of the native strain with light UV was realized. The biosynthetic production of compound 1 was increased by inducing cellular growth with synthetic carboxamides and bio-synthesized metabolites both in the native strain, as well as the irradiated strain. These studies as with the incorporation of IAA C-2 the biogenesis of the compound 1 is propased. Preliminary results of the biological activity of the bromo, acetyl sodium salts and methylol derivatives of compound 1 have shown that they are antitrypanosomal, with the latter having the largest. activity In the toxicity and cytotoxicity studies of these derivatives a similar value of nifurtimox and methylol (at, 450 mM) which to inhibit.s 50% of the synthese the DNA (D50 ) has been found. From the native strain catabolic products of the tryptophane pyrrol-2-carboxylic acid and a compound identified as 5-hydroxy-2-methyl -3-carboetoxy berzofurane were obtained. From irradiated strain p-aminophenol, antranylic acid and isatine were isolated. AlI isolated compound were purified by PLC and identified by UV, IR and NMRH spectroscopies and Mass spectrometry.
