RESUMO

This research studied the Mahanarva fimbriolata (Stål, 1854) (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) biology for three generations, in order to develop a continuous laboratory rearing technique. The fertility life table was used to evaluate the rearing quality and fitness. The experiment was set in laboratory conditions (25 ± 1 o C, 70 ± 10% RH and 14 hour-photoperiod). For the three generations the results, expressed in mean per generation, were as follows: 20.6, 21.0 and 20.8 days (egg period); 36.8; 37.0 and 37.4 days (nymphal period); 18.6; 16.1 and 16.9 days (male longevity); 23.5; 22.5 and 18.8 days (female longevity). The values for life cycle were 60.4; 64.9 and 59.3 days and for fecundity were 379.7; 338.3 and 308.8 eggs/female, respectively. The net reproductive rates (Ro) were 135.0, 129.6 and 129.4 and the finite rates of increase (l) were 1.085; 1.078 and 1.086, respectively.
