RESUMO
Through REGIONALISM Gilberto Freyre and Leandro Tocantins, in their own regions of origin, assume the challange of conciliating the tradicional sectors and the emerging social forces of the country. This conciliation takes form, in the authors analysis, by taking back the past and the traditional values as the basis of both, cultural identity and life in the tropics. Changes, in such a view, must adjust to the traditional ways of balancing contadiction in order to get cultural harmony.
