RESUMO

The objective of this paper is to promote a discussion about the influence of traditional Aymaran and market values, within the field of organizational theory, on the sustainability of several Organizações Econômicas Camponesas (Oecas). The research was structured around the concept of sustainability in organizations proposed by França Filho and Santana Júnior (2007), used to understand the type of solidarity economics organizations, and the theory of substantive rationality proposed by Guerreiro Ramos (1981). The study uses a qualitative approach and it is based on a multiple case study. The data collection consists in personal face-to-face interviews and simple observation. The units of observation are the Cimat-Apci, Amaq and CPS Oecas, located in the West side of Bolivia, which center their production activities on the transformation of camelid fiber wools into handicrafts. The paper finds that around two different, but equally important, non-exclusive perspectives: income generation for their daily needs and continuous preservation of the Aymaran culture through their life style.
