RESUMO

The standard enthalpy change (DrH) for the reaction: MCl2(s) + nL(s) = I M(L)nCl2 I(s); DrH (where M = Zn, Cd, Hg(II), L = TBPO (Tribenzilphosphineoxide) and TEPO (Trietilphosphineoxide) and n = 1 or 2; was measured by using solution calorimetry. The standard enthalpy change due to the sublimation of ligands (DsH) was also measured. By using these data together with others found in the literature, it was possible to calculate DMH and DDH, namely. I M(L)nCl2 I(s) = MCl2(g) + nL(g); DMH I M(L)nCl2 I(s) = MCl2(s) + nL(s); DDH as well as the standard enthalpy of formation (DfH) for these ligands and adducts. From mass spectra and thermal data it was observed that these adducts seemingly do not exist in appreciable amounts, except in the solid state. Assuming that the sublimation enthalpy of complex and pure ligand, are the same it was possible to calculate the bond enthalpy metal-ligand DH (M...O).
