RESUMO

In order to perform professional football (Soccer), the athlete requires high levels of physical aptitude. To achieve this, it is necessary the application, at training time, of specific stimulus like strength with different degrees of intensity and volumes, to assure the organism reach the adaptations needed. To avoid harm for the athlete during the training process, the Stress Threshold technique proposes the use of biological markers to monitor the blood oxidation stress and anti-oxidation protection. The objective of this study is to monitor and regulate the levels of training, optimize the performance and develop a prophylactic foundation by utilising the Stress Threshold technique, during the teams (football, soccer) preparatory periods. The training sessions at the modelcompetition, Dallas Cup, were planed under the classic concepts, methodological principles, while in the Taça São Paulo were utilised the contemporary concepts. The blood stress markers analysed were: The activity levels of the enzymes creatine kinase; the activity levels of the enzymes catalase and glutathione reductase; the concentration levels of uric acid, sulfidrila groupings and carbolinads proteins; and the determination of the lactate threshold in the blood. The results obtained point towards the increase activity on the enzymes catalase and glutathione reductase as an occurrence of training, based on the classic concepts. The results on the analysis of the same blood markers while under the contemporary concepts training were showing an increase in the activity of the calatase enzyme and a decrease in the glutathione reductase s activity. The activity of the enzyme creatine kinase permitted, independently of known conceptions, to become an index of individualisation of the training disciplines. The threshold of the lactate in the blood was higher while training under the contemporary concepts. All the other parameters did not show any alterations. In conclusion, the Stress Threshold technique did show, itself, to be a sensible valid and accurate way of monitoring training in athletes
