RESUMO

This research, qualitative and quantitative, is resulted of experiments for the treatment and quality of rain waters, flowed off on roofs, for domestic and industrial use. The choice of the subject is justified by the fact of the exploitation of the rain water to be an auxiliary resolution to the water scarcity, mainly in places where the lack of this resource is a restriction to the social development. Still, resolute questions of urban draining, since that the captation of this type of water diminishes direct draining and, consequently, possible floodings. It is objectified, before, to study the quality of the rain water and, later, the reduction of the impurities in the contained one, by a system of water treatment. For in such a way, a rain water collector was installed, in a construction of the Campus II-Blumenau, SC, at the Regional University of Blumenau, where assays of filter water treatment had been accomplished and whose element had been distributed; to know; one with coal and, another one, sand. In both, it thus had variation to the constructive characteristics and also to the readinesses. Of it was verified there influence of the treatment; of the water. It was proceeded disinfection, for ultraviolet radiations. To that the followed filtration and ultraviolet disinfection was evidenced that, it presented satisfactory results, as Portaria 518/2004. For effect, was concluded that the system is simple and of easy maintenance; therefore that it does not leave chemical residues and it excuses the proper chemical treatment. Still, it is observed that as much the raw water how much the treated one takes care of to the requirements established for some industrial uses
