RESUMO
In order to produce realistic Digital Terrain Models (DTM), one needs to preserve the ridges and valley lines (the breaklines). The use of triangular grids allows us to model real surfaces with better accuracy, since there is no need for intermediate interpolations, as in the case with rectangular grids. However the visualization with triangular irregular networks (TIN) tends to conceal the breaklines, thus producing a non realistic representation. This work presents a method that uses breakline information and triangular surface fitting, allowing a realistic DTM generation with the advantages of TIN representation.
