RESUMO

The brazilian software industry has searched each time more to specialize and increase its competitive capacity to survive in the global market. Formed for 7800 companies of related software and services, as stated in a published research from AssociaÃÃo Brasileira das Empresas de Software (ABES) in april of 2007, the brazilian software industry ran 9,09 billion dollars in the year of 2006, representing 0.97% of the Brazilian PIB in that year. With annual growth of more than 20% in the three previous years and occupying 13th place in world-wide ranking of the market software and services, the main difficulties of the Brazilian industry of software are related to the small size of the companies and to the low level of capacity of its processes. Considering this context, a methodology was developed in this work to implement programs of Software Process Improvement (SPI) in groups of software development companies. This methodology was created on the basis of the process improvement approach PRO2PI, with the objective to search solutions for some of the common problems in SPI initiatives and work with software companies groups. The validation of the proposed methodology occurred in two groups of companies who aimed for G maturity level in the model of quality of software MPS.BR. The results of these case studies indicate that the grouping is viable and can be used as reference to carry through works of this nature, a time that was significantly surpassed the historical average of less than ten percent of success in initiatives of MPS in company groups
