RESUMO

The objective was to study the use of licit and illicitdrugs by middle school and high school students in Campinas, S.P., and to find out the relationship between addiction and factors related to the drug abuse like sociodemographic, cultural and psychopathological. The study sample consisted of 2,375 students from public schools (in the center of the city and periphery) and private schools. It was applied questionnaire based on the questionnaire by the Brazilian Psychotropic Drug Information Center (CEBRID) and it was filled in during class time without the teacher s presence. Drug addicts were classified according to the WHO classification (1981): usage during one s life (the drug was used at least once in a lifetime); montly usage (the drug was used during a period of 30 days before the research began); frequent usage (6 times or more during the month ); heavy usage (20 times or more per month)...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
