RESUMO

This work is based on the study of the reduction in the emission of pollutants through a network of mass transfer equipments by using Pinch Analysis. The main objective of this work is to combine both the task of the synthesis of those mass transfer equipments and economical viability when applied to the case of water reuse and mass process integration the Pinch Analyses was chosen due to its simplicity and friendly use. For the networks synthesis the following targets were defined: minimal costs, minimal number of units and minimal water (or external mass transfer agents) flowrates. The next step is to use heuristics rules for the synthesis of the network followed by an optimization through the loop breaking. After the optimization, an economical analysis was done by studying the effects of the network on the mass transfer equipments and the influence of these equipments on the total costs. The results showed that an incorrect economical analysis can turn the network inefficient or not economically viable. In addition, the consistency of the methodology developed in this work and the importance of the economical analysis in the synthesis of mass transfer equipments networks were shown
