1. Microbial Synthesis and Characterization of Biodegradable Polyester Copolymers from Burkholderia Cepacia and Cupriavidus Necator Strains Using Crude Glycerol as Substrate
Abstract Polymers are materials of pronounced importance in the modern world, since they are massively present in everyday life, especially in the form of packaging. However, most of these materials are derived from non-renewable sources and their disposal generates large volumes of waste, which is extremely damaging to natural environments. In this context,

2. ASSESSMENT OF POLYHYDROXYALKANOATE SYNTHESIS IN SUBMERGED CULTIVATION OF Cupriavidus necator AND Burkholderia cepacia STRAINS USING SOYBEAN AS SUBSTRATE
ABSTRACT Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are biocompatible and biodegradable polyesters produced by prokaryotic microbes for energy storage and carbon reserve. These polymers are an option to diminish the massive impact caused by inadequate disposal of synthetic plastics. In this study, evaluation and characterization of PHA produced by Cupriavidus necator (IPT

4. Biodegradation Study of a Novel Poly-Caprolactone-Coffee Husk Composite Film
Abstract Plastic disposal is a worldwide issue due to its long degradation time. Environmentally degradable polymers (EDPs) have received considerable attention because of their faster degradation. However, the use of EDPs is limited by high cost and restricted properties. The incorporation of organic fillers is an alternative to reduce cost while increasing

5. Using glycerol produced from biodiesel as a plasticiser in extruded biodegradable films
AbstractThe demand for renewably sourced biodegradable materials has increased the need to produce materials that combine appropriate functional properties at competitive costs. Thermoplastic starch and polyester blends are an interesting alternative to current materials due to the low cost of starch and the functional properties and processability of the re

6. Study of the compatibilizer effect in the properties of starch/polyester blends
The mechanical, viscoelastic and structural properties of starch/ poly (butylene adipate co-terephthalate) (PBAT) blown films produced by reactive extrusion were evaluated using citric acid (CA) and maleic anhydride (MA) as compatibilizers. Scanning electron microscopy images showed more homogeneous structure when CA and MA were included in the formulation.

7. Starch/polyester films: simultaneous optimisation of the properties for the production of biodegradable plastic bags
Blends of starch/polyester have been of great interest in the development of biodegradable packaging. A method based on multiple responses optimisation (Desirability) was used to evaluate the properties of tensile strength, perforation force, elongation and seal strength of cassava starch/poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) blown films produced vi

8. Biocompósitos poliméricos de poli(butileno adipato-co-tereftalato) : PBAT e fibra natural de Munguba, nativa da Amazônia (Pseudobombax munguba) / Polymeric biocomposites of poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) : PBAT and Munguba (Pseudobombax munguba), a natural fiber native from Amazônia
In this work it was studied polymer biocomposites made from a biodegradable polyester and natural fiber Munguba (Pseudobombax Munguba) native to the Amazon region, found in great abundance marshy areas of the forest, for which there are no literature reports of its use in polymer biocomposites. The effects of fiber size, concentration and chemical treatment

9. Poly(ethylene-co-methyl acrylate)/poly(caprolactone) triol blends for drug delivery systems: characterization and drug release
Poly(ethylene-co-methyl acrylate) (EMA) and poly (caprolactone) triol (PCL-T) blends, a biodegradable aliphatic polyester with low molecular weight and moderate water solubility containing diltiazem hydrochloride (DZ) were studied in terms of the thermal and morphological properties, and drug release mechanism. An increase in the PCL-T content in the EMA/PCL

11. Modificação química do amido de mandioca e blendagem com poliéster biodegradável / Chemical modification of cassava starch and blending with polyester biodegradable
