1. Intervening in the Acute Phase of Postradiation Carotid Blowout Syndrome
Abstract Introduction Acute carotid blowout syndrome (aCBS) is a severe complication of head and neck cancer (HNC). It can be defined as a rupture of the extracranial carotid arteries, or one of their branches, that causes life-threatening hemorrhage, and which nowadays can be treated with urgent endovascular intervention. Objective We retrospectively ev

2. Treatment of Blowout fracture with video-assisted surgery

3. Estudo do comportamento PVT de misturas de metano e fluidos de perfuração base éster / Study of the PVT behavior of methane and ester based drilling fluids mixtures
During conventional drilling operations, it is necessary to maintain the wellbore pressure greater than the reservoir pore pressure, otherwise a kick may occur. If the well control procedure is not effective during the circulation of the formation influx out of the well, a blowout could happen, which is a dangerous event concerning safety and environmental i

5. Caracterização geológica tridimensional e monitoramento de dunas no litoral oriental do Rio Grande do Norte
This work presents geophysical and geological results obtained in a dunefield located in the east coast of Rio Grande do Norte State, with the aim to recognize the aeolian body depositional geometries to a future geologic modeling of the aeolian petroliferous reservoirs. The research, which was done in blowouts region situated at Nisia Floresta Municipally,

6. Primary radicals production from water fragmentation by heavy ions
The importance of fragmentation of water molecules by heavy ions is discussed for several different physical environments, including tumor treatment, planetary sciences and fission reactors. The characteristics of the fragmentation yields by electrons, protons and photons are presented and compared with fragmentation yields of water molecules by C3+ and O5+

A methodology for analysis of the consequences of one blowout during the perforation of wells offshore
The main safety concern during the drilling of oil wells is the possibility of blowout. A blowout is the release of hydrocarbons under pressure. In case that the immediate ignition of these hydrocarbons occurs, the expected fire is a jet fire. Jet fire are turbulent diffusion flames. Normally, the thermal energy released for the jet fire is very high and suf

8. Effects of wet CO oxidation on the operation of engines and power generators
A simplified method is used to determine the optimum water content in the flue gases of charcoal gasifiers to be utilized as alternative fuels in the operation of engines and gas turbines for power generation. Computational models of plug flow reactors and well stirred reactors are employed to simulate the reaction and post-flame zones, adopting different ch

Well control has always been a very important issue in the oi! and gas exploitation business, since it involves money savings, people safety and environment threatening. The advancement of the exploration frontiers from onshore to offshore fields, particularly, deep and ultra-deep waters, has increased even more the relevance of kick control and blowout prev

10. An experimental investigation of the effects of nozzle ellipticity on the flow structure of co-flow jet diffusion flames
The flow structure of cold and ignited jets issuing into a co-flowing air stream was experimentally studied using a laser Doppler velocimeter. Methane was employed as the jet fluid discharging from circular and elliptic nozzles with aspect ratios varying from 1.29 to 1.60. The diameter of the circular nozzle was 4.6 mm and the elliptic nozzles had approximat

12. Orbital volume measurement in the management of pure blowout fractures of the orbital floor.
With the recent advent of accurate orbital volume assessment by computed tomography, a retrospective analysis was made of 31 patients with 'pure' blowout fracture of the orbital floor, managed either surgically or conservatively, to determine whether orbital volume measurement could provide an additional parameter of use in the management of such fractures.
