1. Bluetongue disease in sheep: a review

4. Arabidopsis thaliana as a model host for Brevipalpus mite-transmitted viruses
ABSTRACT: Brevipalpus-transmitted viruses (BTV) are a taxonomically diverse group of plant viruses which severely affect a number of major crops. Members of the group can be sub-classified into cytoplasmic (BTV-C) or nuclear type (BTV-N) according to the accumulation sites of virions in the infected plant cells. Both types of BTV produce only local infection

5. Full genome sequencing of the bluetongue virus-1 isolate MKD20/08/Ind from goat in India
ABSTRACT This communication reports full genome sequencing of the bluetongue virus-1 (BTV-1) isolate MKD20/08/Ind from goat in northern India. The total BTV-1 genome size was found to be 19,190 bp. A comparison study between the Indian isolate and other global isolates revealed that it belongs to the 'Eastern' BTV topotype. The full genome sequence of BTV-1

6. Evaluation of different adjuvants formulations for bluetongue vaccine
This study investigated the adjuvant potential of W/O/W multiple emulsions and microemulsions, comparing them with traditional aluminum hydroxide and oil-in-water emulsion adjuvants against bluetongue vaccine (BTV). Local inflammatory reactions were assessed in rabbits by measuring the temperature of the animals and the skin thickness at the site of applicat

7. Estudo da relação entre DTV, BTV e BPV na vibração do tipo judder em sistemas de freio a disco / Study of the relationship between DTV, BTV and BPV over judder-type vibration in disc brake systems

9. Diversity of biting midges of the genus Culicoides Latreille (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) in the area of the Yacyretá Dam Lake between Argentina and Paraguay
The Culicoides communities have been analyzed between 1993/1998 in the area influenced by the Yacyretá Dam Lake (Paraná River, Argentina-Paraguay). Adults of Culicoides were collected monthly by using CDC light traps exposed for 24 h in 9 sampling sites located at both margins of the river; 21 species were recorded. Highest values of species richness were

The ability of snake venoms to induce local effects is well known. In this thesis, the oedema and hemorrhage induced in rats by heated and non-heated Bothrops lanceolatus venom (BL V) was investigated. Oedema was induced by the subplantar injection of venom (12.5-100 µg/paw) and was quantified by hydroplethysmography at various times thereafter. Hemorrhage

In the present study a strain of Bluetongue virus, serotype 4 (BTV-S4), when adapted to BHK 21, clone 13 and to VERO cell lines has shown a distinctive cytophatic effect between 72 h and 96 h after inoculation, with titres ranging from 10 POT. 3.6 to 10 POT. 3.6 DICT 50%/ml. After a high speed centrifugation of the packed infected cells the viral particles w

12. Identification of a neutralizing epitope shared by bluetongue virus serotypes 2 and 13.
The serotypes of bluetongue virus (BTV) are classified by differences in neutralization commonly induced by P2, a major surface protein. A BTV serotype 13 (BTV-13) monoclonal antibody, 4B13-207A, immunoprecipitated P2s of BTV-13 and BTV-2 and also neutralized both viruses. These data indicate that P2s from BTV-13 and BTV-2 share a common neutralizing epitope
