1. Contamination of pigs by Yersinia enterocolitica in the abattoir flowchart and its relation to the farm

2. Salmonella spp na cadeia de produção de carne bovina de exportação: ocorrência, perfil de susceptibilidade antimicrobiana, genes de virulência e perfil de macrorrestrição do PFGE / Salmonella spp in export beef production chain: occurrence, antimicrobial susceptibility, virulence genes and PFGE macrorestriction profile
Beef is exposed to contamination at all stages of the production chain, particularly in operations where it is more manipulated and when Good Hygiene Practices are not properly followed. The most relevant pathogen in bovine meat is Salmonella spp, the major causative agent of foodborne diseases in the world. Several studies have shown that Salmonella spp can

3. Fauna atropelada : estimativas de mortalidade e identificação de zonas de agregação
Vehicle-wildlife collisions are considered the main human factor responsible directly for vertebrate mortality worldwide. Roadkill estimates are elementary to evaluate road impacts, but carcass removal and searcher efficiency must be considered in order to diminish estimation bias. Mitigation measures have been implemented to reduce wildlife mortality and to

4. Salmonella sp em rebanho comercial de suínos e em suas carcaças processadas no frigorífico / Salmonella sp FLOCK IN TRADE OF PIGS AND CARCASSES PROCESSED IN SLAUGHTERHOUSE
The slaughter of pigs with Salmonella sp is considered the first critical point for contamination of the final product. The risk represented by these animals tends to increase when this bacterium is present in portions of the carcass that reaches the consumer. In this study, we sought to verify the association of the prevalence of pigs with Salmonella sp in

5. Comparison of microbial counts on beef carcasses by using the moist-swab contact method and secondary tissue removal technique.
When a tissue removal rinse technique was compared to the moist-swab contact method, significantly greater numbers of bacteria were recovered from beef carcasses, especially when the flora exceeded log10 4.5/6.45 cm2. Secondary treatment of the removed surface tissue by blending resulted in a significantly greater number of bacteria being recovered than when
