1. Structural and fluid dynamic characterization of calcium carbonate-based porous ceramics
The aim of this work was to experimentally evaluate the use of calcium carbonate as a pore-generating agent in ceramic compositions. Compositions that contained 50% kaolin, 20% limestone, and different concentrations of quartz and feldspar were prepared by uniaxial pressing. Samples were heat-treated at a heating rate appropriate to induce calcium carbonate

2. CARACTERIZAÇÃO DE AEROSSÓIS DO SEMIÁRIDO DO NORDESTE BRASILEIRO: resultados do CEará AeRosol EXperiment CEAREX / CHARACTERIZATION OF AEROSOL semiarid NORTHEAST BRAZIL: results of Ceara Aerosol Experiment - CEAREX

E AERONET/NASA. / Indirect effect of aerosols: observations in the Amazon clouds in polluted air and clean transition to the second program data LBA / SMOCC / AT LAST! And AERONET / NASA.
In the Brazilian Amazon, fires occur seasonally. The pollution generated because changes in time weather and climate of the Amazon. Studies have shown that the emission of particulate matter alters the radiative balance via direct effect (Solar radiation scattering and reflection.) and indirect aerosol (Increased concentration droplet and the cloud content l

4. AEROSOL CHARACTERIZATION IN A REGION WITH HIGH CONCENTRATION OF MINERAL SANDS. / CARACTERIZAÇÃO DE AEROSSÓIS EM UMA REGIÃO RICA EM AREIAS MONAZÍTICAS.
The main deposit of mineral sands in Brasil occur from the Rio Grande do Norte State to Rio de Janeiro State. The main commercial deposit is located in Buena, a village at São Francisco de Itabapoana, Rio de Janeiro State. In buena there is a plant that process minerals sands to obtain ilmenite, zirconite, rutile and monazite concentrates. This plant belong

8. Identification of Two Novel Mycobacterium avium Allelic Variants in Pig and Human Isolates from Brazil by PCR-Restriction Enzyme Analysis
Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) is composed of environmental mycobacteria found widely in soil, water, and aerosols that can cause disease in animals and humans, especially disseminated infections in AIDS patients. MAC consists of two closely related species, M. avium and M. intracellulare, and may also include other, less-defined groups. The precise diffe

9. Construction and characterization in vivo of Bordetella pertussis aroA mutants.
A DNA fragment encoding a kanamycin resistance determinant was used to insertionally inactivate the cloned aroA gene of Bordetella pertussis in Escherichia coli K-12, and a conjugative shuttle vector system based on the suicide vector pRTP1 was used to deliver the mutations from E. coli back into B. pertussis CN2992FS and BP1. The aroA mutation was introduce

10. Box-Behnken experimental design in the development of a nasal drug delivery system of model drug hydroxyurea: Characterization of viscosity, in vitro drug release, droplet size, and dynamic surface tension
The purpose of the research was to investigate the changes in physicochemical properties and their influence on nasal formulation performance using 5-factor, 3-level Box-Behnken experimental design on the combined responses of viscosity, droplet size distribution (DSD), and drug release. Gel formulations of hydroxyurea (HU) with surface-active polymers (hydr

11. Initial Characterization of Micafungin Pulmonary Delivery via Two Different Nebulizers and Multivariate Data Analysis of Aerosol Mass Distribution Profiles
Pharmaceutical aerosols have been targeted to the lungs for the treatment of asthma and pulmonary infectious diseases successfully. Micafungin (Astellas Pharma US, Deerfield, IL, USA) has been shown to be an effective antifungal agent when administrated intravenously. Pulmonary delivery of micafungin has not previously been reported. In the present pilot stu
