1. Comparative Analysis of C-repeat Binding Factors (CBFs) in Tomato and Arabidopsis
Abstract Cold stress is one of the limiting factors of plant production that plants use different mechanisms for cold tolerance. CBF genes play critical role to regulate the cold responsive genes. To better understand of CBF gene functions, the tomato-CBFs and Arabidopsis-CBFs were evaluated using bioinformatics tools, and finally the expression patterns of

2. Analog Models of Flanking Structures and a Natural Example in the Quadrilátero Ferrífero, Minas Gerais
ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to present analog models of flanking structures and to analyze the Fábrica Nova synform, Quadrilátero Ferrífero, Minas Gerais, from a geometric point of view. We set up seven models using a linear viscous silicone and produced flanking structures with a shear velocity of 2 cm h-1. At different initial orientations with re

3. Molecular evolution of HoxA13 and the multiple origins of limbless morphologies in amphibians and reptiles
Developmental processes and their results, morphological characters, are inherited through transmission of genes regulating development. While there is ample evidence that cis-regulatory elements tend to be modular, with sequence segments dedicated to different roles, the situation for proteins is less clear, being particularly complex for transcription fact

4. Ethylene response factors gene regulation and expression profiles under different stresses in rice
Stresses can cause large yield reductions in cultivated plants. The response to these stresses occurs via a plethora of signalling pathways, where a large number of genes is induced or repressed. Among the environmental stress responsive genes, there are the members of the ethylene response factors (ERF) gene family. The mRNA levels of different ERF are regu

5. Indução do promotor GmNAC6 por elicitores de estresses e mapeamento de regiões reguladoras / Induction of the promoter GmNAC6 by elicitors of stress and mapping of regulatory regions
NAC domain-containing proteins are unique to plants and comprise a large gene family of transcriptional factors implicated in diverse aspects of plant development and stress responses. The GmNAC6 was recently identified as a downstream component of the ER (endoplasmic reticulum) stress- and osmotic stress-induced NRP (N-rich proteins)-mediated cell death sig

6. Integrated experimental biophysics and molecular dynamics simulations of biomolecules in solution - the interaction of nuclear receptors with DNA response elements and the inter-domain dynamics of Cellobiohydrolase I / Estudos por modelagem e dinâmica molecular integradas a técnicas físicas para biomoléculas em solução - interação de receptores nucleares a elementos responsivos no DNA e dinâmica inter-domínios da celobiohidrolase I
Collective motions play a fundamental role in solution biomolecule dynamics and energetics. These movements can couple very distant regions in the protein structures affection, for instance, allosteric mechanisms, the establishment of macromolecular complexes, and on the integrated function of multidomain proteins as molecullar machines. In this thesis, we p

8. Identification and characterization of two critical sequences in SV40PolyA that activate the green fluorescent protein reporter gene
Alu repeats or Line-1-ORF2 (ORF2) inhibit expression of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene when inserted downstream of this gene in the vector pEGFP-C1. In this work, we studied cis-acting elements that eliminated the repression of GFP gene expression induced by Alu and ORF2 and sequence characteristics of these elements. We found that sense and antise

9. Essential regulatory elements for NHE3 gene transcription in renal proximal tubule cells
The objectives of the present study were to identify the cis-elements of the promoter absolutely required for the efficient rat NHE3 gene transcription and to locate positive and negative regulatory elements in the 5’-flanking sequence (5’FS), which might modulate the gene expression in proximal tubules, and to compare this result to those reported for i

10. Regulatory elements involved in the post-transcriptional control of stage-specific gene expression in Trypanosoma cruzi: a review
Trypanosoma cruzi, a protozoan parasite that causes Chagas disease, exhibits unique mechanisms for gene expression such as constitutive polycistronic transcription of protein-coding genes, RNA editing and trans-splicing. In the absence of mechanism controlling transcription initiation, organized subsets of T. cruzi genes must be post-transcriptionally co-reg

12. Novel sequence variations in LAMA2 and SGCG genes modulating cis-acting regulatory elements and RNA secondary structure
In this study, we detected new sequence variations in LAMA2 and SGCG genes in 5 ethnic populations, and analysed their effect on enhancer composition and mRNA structure. PCR amplification and DNA sequencing were performed and followed by bioinformatics analyses using ESEfinder as well as MFOLD software. We found 3 novel sequence variations in the LAMA2 (c.31
