1. Use of mineral particle film to protect ‘Okitsu’ tangerine and ‘Valencia’ orange against Anastrepha fraterculus and the effect on fruit quality
ABSTRACT The particle film technology has been reported as a promising tool in pest control. The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of kaolin-based products against the oviposition of South American fruit fly, Anastrepha fraterculus (Dip.:Tephritidae), and its effect on the quality of citrus fruits. The experiment was conducted in orchards

2. Response of grey slug to entomopathogenic nematodes
ABSTRACT Biological control using entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) is known as an ecofriendly strategy in integrated pest management. The terrestrial slug Parmacella ibera is a major pest of vegetables and citrus trees in north of Iran. The heavy costs and environmental concerns of synthetic molluscicides led the study to use EPNs, against the slug P. ibera

3. Colletotrichum nymphaeae var. entomophilum var. nov. a natural enemy of the citrus scale insect, Praelongorthezia praelonga (Hemiptera: Ortheziidae)
ABSTRACT: The citrus scale insect Praelongorthezia praelonga (Douglas), a major pest of citrus and other economically important crops, has only two commonly documented natural enemies: an entomopathogenic strain of the fungus Colletotrichum nymphaeae (Pass.) Aa and several parasitoids. The entomopathogenic strain of C. nymphaeae, formerly recognized under th

4. Performance of 'Jaffa' sweet orange on different rootstocks for orchards in the Brazilian Northeast

5. First Report of Eutetranychus banksi (McGregor) on Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King)
ABSTRACT Texas citrus mite, Eutetranychus banksi (McGregor) (Acari: Tetranychidae: Tetranychinae), considered a serious pest of the citrus crop in some countries, is reported for the first time on mahogany seedlings (Swietenia macrophylla King, Meliaceae) in Brazil, causing foliar tanning with chlorotic spots and premature fall of leaves.

6. Physiological characteristics of citrus plants infested with citrus blackfly
Abstract Aleurocanthus woglumi (Ashby, 1915) is an important agricultural pest that causes yield losses of 20-80% in citrus plants by removing plant nutrients while feeding and allowing the formation of sooty mold. The objective of this study was to evaluate physiological changes in citrus plants in response to A. woglumi infestation under field conditions.

7. Interactions of adjuvants on adhesion and germination of Isaria fumosorosea on adults of Diaphorina citri
ABSTRACT: Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri, is considered the most important citrus pest worldwide, as it transmits Huanglongbing – serious citrus disease. New efficient and sustainable strategies to control this pest have been investigated and the use of entomopathogenic fungi has become a promising alternative. The objective of this study was to ev

8. Method to evaluate the efficiency of manual overhead irrigation in citrus rootstock liner production
ABSTRACT Brazil produces grafted citrus seedlings in closed screen houses to reduce pest and disease incidence. Irrigation is usually performed by hand using either breaker nozzles or drilled polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe wands on garden hoses. Rootstocks are produced in cone-shaped containers filled with soilless potting mix. Since the containers have a sma

Diaphorina citri Kuwayama, 1908 (Hemiptera: Psyllidae) is an exotic insect in Brazil, first recorded in the 40s. Although it causes direct damage, D. citri only received attention as a pest in 2004, when the \"Huanglonbing\" (HLB) disease was confirmed infecting citrus in Brazil, and subsequently related to D. citri as vector. Currently, there is no cure for

12. Azteca barbifex Forel (Hymenoptera: Formicidae): potential pest of citrus crops in eastern Amazon
Damage caused by the ant Azteca barbifex (Forel) was identified in orange trees (Citrus sinensis), in Capitão Poço County, Guamá microregion, Pará State. The damage caused by the scraping of stems and branches lead to reduction in yield with subsequent death of the plant. These characteristics indicate A. barbifex as a potential pest of citrus crops in t
