1. Effect of different cleansers on the weight and ion release of removable partial denture: an in vitro study
OBJECTIVE: Removable partial dentures (RPD) require different hygiene care, and association of brushing and chemical cleansing is the most recommended to control biofilm formation. However, the effect of cleansers has not been evaluated in RPD metallic components. The aim of this study was to evaluate in vitro the effect of different denture cleansers on the

2. Influence of metal alloy and the profile of coronary stents in patients with multivessel coronary disease
BACKGROUND: In Brazil, despite the recommendations of the Brazilian Society of Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology, the National Health System has not yet approved the use of drug-eluting stents. In percutaneous coronary interventions performed in the public and part of the private health care system, bare metal stents are used as the only option. The

3. Determination of Ni(II) in metal alloys by spectrophotometry UV-Vis using dopasemiquinone
A spectrophotometric method was proposed for Ni(II) determination in alloys using a dopa-semiquinone (L-1) to form [Ni(II)(L1-)3]1-, ε = 9.3 x 10³ L mol-1 cm-1. The optimal conditions for the determination were: wavelength 590 nm, temperature 25 °C, reaction time 45 min and pH 7.5. The Beer's law was obeyed for nickel from 3.33 x 10-5 to 1.78 x 10-4 mol L

4. Evaluation of abutment and perimplantar region deformation of implant-supported screwed prostheses: an study using strain gauges / Avaliação da deformação do intermediário e região perimplantar de próteses implanto-suportada unitárias parafusada: estudo através da extensometria
The dental implant depends on the supporting bone for its stability and functional longevity. Mechanical behavior and trabecular bone structure affect the interface with the implant. Such knowledge may provide a basis for improvements in the current implant function and design, decreasing bone crest resorption and failure at bone-implant junction. Adequate q

5. ANÃLISE DE SISTEMAS DE IMPLANTES DENTÃRIOS EM MANDÃBULAS EDÃNTULAS COM APLICAÃÃO DE CARREGAMENTO IMEDIATO / Study of the systems of dental implantations for edentulous mandibula with immediate load
The present study aimed at obtaining comparative elements among the guided systems of fixed complete denture with 4 osseointegrated implants with immediate loading, considering the importance of understanding the implant project as a process where biomaterials and biomechanics are assessed. The three-dimensional finite element method was used to analyze the

6. Análise mecânica e microestrutural das ligas de cobalto-cromo de uso odontológico após sucessivas refundições
The cobalt-chromium alloy is extensively used in the Odontology for the confection of metallic scaffolding in partial removable denture. During the last few years, it has been reported an increasing number of premature imperfections, with a few months of prosthesis use. The manufacture of these components is made in prosthetic laboratories and normally invol

7. Avaliação da resistência à corrosão em meio fisiológico de metais revestidos com nitreto de titânio. / Evaluation of the resistance to the corrosion in physiologic environment of metals covered with titanium nitrite.
Metals are very much used as implantable materials mainly for the construction of devices orthopaedic area. There is a constant concern about the corrosion process in those metallic biomaterials due to the aggressiveness of the physiological environment. By using four types of metals and metallic alloys pure titanium, titanium alloy, low carbon stainless

8. Exposure to cobalt chromium dust and lung disorders in dental technicians.
BACKGROUND--Dental technician's pneumoconiosis is a dust-induced fibrotic lung disease of fairly recent origin. This study was carried out to estimate its occurrence in Sweden. METHODS--Thirty seven dental technicians in central and south eastern Sweden with at least five years of exposure to dust from cobalt chromium molybdenum (CoCrMo) alloys, identified b
