1. Metal-Supported Niobium Catalysts Investigation for Conversion of Bio-Renewable Glycerol to Organic Compounds
The glycerol oxidative dehydration to organic compounds, especially acrolein and acrylic acid, was studied over vanadium, molybdenum, and cobalt oxides supported on niobium oxide and niobium phosphate catalysts. At 300 °C, the glycerol conversion was 100% over all catalysts tested, and acrolein was the main product observed, without significant deactivation

2. Chemical modification of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles with possible application as asphaltene flocculant agent
Asphaltenes can cause enormous losses in the oil industry, because they are soluble only in aromatic solvents. Therefore, they must be removed from the petroleum before it is refined, using flocculant agents. Aiming to find new materials that can work as flocculant agents to asphaltenes, cobalt ferrite nanoparticles were chemically modified through acid-base

3. Eletro-oxidação de glicerol sobre eletrodos de platina modificados com hidróxido de cobalto
The increased production of biodiesel has resulted in the overproduction of glycerol that has generated fear of improper disposal, due to low market value of the product and consequent lack of interest. Glycerol, discovered in 1779 by Scheele, is used industrially in the production of over 1500 products such as toiletries, cosmetics, food, beverages and poly

4. Aspects on the optimization of die-sinking EDM of tungsten carbide-cobalt
At present, due to their properties, the tungsten carbide-cobalt (WC-Co) composite materials are in huge demand by industry to manufacture special tools, dies/molds and components under erosion. The powder metallurgy is the usual process applied to obtain WC-Co products, but in some cases this process is unable to produce tools of very complex shapes and hig

5. Feijão pré-cozido irradiado com raios gama do Cobalto-60: uma alternativa de consumo / Precooked beans irradiated with gamma rays of Cobalt-60: an alternative for consumption
The bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a leguminosae with high nutritional value due especially to its mineral and proteinic content. A decrease in consumption of beans has been observed due to modern eating habits related to factors such as distance between home and work, increase in the number of female workers outside home, labor market competition which acc

6. RemoÃÃo de tiofeno utilizando adsorventes preparados por mistura fÃsica
The need for cleaner fuels has increased that the studies aimed at reducing levels of sulfur in gasoline. The presence of sulfur compounds in fractions of oil is highly undesirable because it results in corrosion and environmental pollution. The hydrodesulfurization is the main process responsible for removing sulfur from most of the fuel industry of oil ref

7. Avaliação da adesão bacteriana em polímeros empregados na indústria de alimentos irradiados com cobalto 60 / Evaluation of the bacterial adhesion in polymers employed in the food industry irradiated with cobalt 60
The adhesion of Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC 13525 to low density polyethylene after irradiation with 0, 5, 10, 20 and 25 kGy was evaluated by the technique of standard counting in plaques (SCP) and epifluorescense microscopy (MEF). It was found that, regardless of the dose of irradiation and the employed technique the adhesion did not exhibit significant di

8. Influencia dos parametros de deposição nas propriedades do revestimento de liga zinco/cobalto
Zinc alIoy coatinKS have found large application in the metal finishin!t industry, particularly for coating automotive parts. In this work the deposition process was characterized by cyclic voltammetry in order to identify the range of deposition potential of the alloy"and its constituents. Then, variations of deposition parameters and of bath composition we

9. Codepositos de ZnCo : estudo do processo de sua eletrodeposição por corrente pulsada
Zinc alloys have been studied as possible substitutes for zinc as corrosion resistant coating. One of the these alloys, the ZnCo is well considered in the European automotive industry and more recently in the American one. ln the present work the zinc anomalous deposition in the ZnCo alloy is investigated and deposits was obtained by pulsed current in chlori

10. Respiratory diseases in hard metal workers: an occupational hygiene study in a factory.
A hygiene study of a hard metal factory was conducted from 1981 to 1984. All workers exposed to hard metal were medically examined and their exposure to cobalt measured. Eighteen employees had occupational asthma related to exposure to hard metal, a prevalence rate of 5.6%. Nine had a positive bronchial provocation test to cobalt and reactions of the immedia

11. Geltape method for measurement of work related surface contamination with cobalt containing dust: correlation between surface contamination and airborne exposure.
OBJECTIVES--The geltape method is a new method for optical measurement of total amount of dust on surfaces. The objectives were to study the potential applicability of this method to measurements of work related cobalt exposure during painting of plates with cobalt dye. METHODS--Consecutive series of work related geltape prints were taken from surfaces insid
