1. The Effect of Graft Positions on the Stability of Total Hip Arthroplasty with Different Types of Subtrochanteric Shortening

2. Blood Transfusion and Increased Perioperative Risk in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts
Abstract Objective: To correlate blood transfusions and clinical outcomes during hospitalization in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG). Methods: Transfusion, clinical and hematological data were collected for 1,378 patients undergoing isolated or combined CABG between January 2011 and December 2012. The effect of blood transfusions was evaluate

3. Intraoperative Analysis of Flow Dynamics in Arteriovenous Composite Y Grafts
Abstract Objective: Composite graft of left internal thoracic artery and great saphenous vein in revascularization of the left coronary system is a technique well described in literature. The aim of this study is to analyze blood flow dynamics in this configuration of composite graft especially in what concerns left internal thoracic artery's adaptability a

4. Morphological and mechanical characterization of chitosan-calcium phosphate composites for potential application as bone-graft substitutes
Introduction: Bone diseases, aging and traumas can cause bone loss and lead to bone defects. Treatment of bone defects is challenging, requiring chirurgical procedures. Bone grafts are widely used for bone replacement, but they are limited and expensive. Due to bone graft limitations, natural, semi-synthetic, synthetic and composite materials have been studi

5. The effect of carbon dioxide therapy on composite graft survival
PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of carboxytherapy in auricular composite grafts in rabbits. METHODS: An experimental study was conducted using 20 rabbits randomly assigned to a treatment group of carboxytherapy or a control group of saline solution. In each ear, a circular graft with 1.5 cm or 2 cm of diameter was amputated and reattached. Animals underwe

6. Estudo de parÃmetros ecodopplercardiogrÃficos de patÃncia do enxerto composto de artÃria torÃcica interna esquerda. / Study of dopplerechocardiographic parameters of patency of the composite graft of left internal thoracic artery.

8. Four-Year Patency of PTFE Grafts after Replacement of the Superior Vena Cava and the Innominate Veins
We describe a simpler alternative to treating vena cava syndrome with composite spiral vein grafts. Instead, we used 2 polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) grafts to replace the resected superior vena cava and innominate veins of a man with a malignant thymoma. Both grafts have remained patent more than 4 years after surgery, and the patient has continued asymptom

9. Bone deficit in ovariectomized rats. Functional contribution of the marrow stromal cell population and the effect of oral dihydrotachysterol treatment.
This study investigates the proliferative and osteogenic role of marrow stromal/osteoprogenitor cells in the development of the cortical bone deficit in ovariectomized (OVX) female rats. In vitro, clonal growth of marrow stromal cells from OVX rats was significantly impaired (vs. sham-operated controls). Yet in vivo, cells from sham-operated and OVX rats had

10. APICAL LEFT VENTRICULAR-ABDOMINAL AORTIC COMPOSITE CONDUITS FOR LEFT VENTRICULAR OUTFLOW OBSTRUCTIONS
Certain problems related to the left ventricular outflow tract are not amenable to conventional surgical methods, but may be solved with the creation of a double outlet left ventricle by using a composite rigid pyrolite left ventricular apex outlet prosthesis and a fabric valve-containing conduit. Low porosity woven Dacron tube grafts are used for the condui

11. Combined replacement of the ascending aorta and the aortic valve in 42 consecutive patients: A comparison of composite graft techniques and conventional techniques over one year
During 1978, 42 consecutive patients underwent simultaneous aortic valve and ascending aorta replacement in our institution. Seventy-one percent were at low risk despite a high incidence of dissection. Twenty-nine percent were high-risk patients requiring repeat or concomitant cardiac procedures, mostly on an emergency basis. Depending upon the extent of the

12. Indications, technique, and results in 336 tibioperoneal reconstructions
At the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, a retrospective study was done of 336 femorotibial bypasses for limb salvage, with a follow-up of 7 years. The indication for arterial reconstruction was severe ischemia in 80.7%. Early good results were obtained in 89.6%, and the mortality rate was 1.5%. The best bypass grafts were the autologous vein and the composi
