1. Incidence of aflatoxin M1 in fresh milk from small farms
Abstract The objective of this work was to determine aflatoxin M1 in fresh milk from fifty-two small farms in the city of Concórdia - SC, Brazil. Samples from the cooling tanks of each property were collected from November 2014 to January 2015. The QuEChERS method was used for the extraction of aflatoxin M1, and quantification was performed in UHPLC-FL. 40.

2. Adhesion and production of degrading enzymes by bacteria isolated from biofilms in raw milk cooling tanks
Biofilms in milk cooling tanks compromise product quality even on farms. Due to the lack of studies of this topic, this study evaluated the microbiological conditions of raw milk cooling tanks on farms and characterized the microorganisms isolated from these tanks. Samples were wiped off with sterile swabs from seven milk cooling tanks in three different poi

3. Numerical simulation CFD in the quenching process / Simulação numerica CFD no processo de tempera
In the quenching heat treatment is a great difficulty to understand the different cooling profiles occurring at the surface and subsurface of the material, that define the structure formed and the final properties desired. The formation of different types of structures in the material can occurs due to uneven cooling caused by fluid dynamic conditions of the

4. Desenvolvimento de processo contínuo de copolimerização em emulsão em reator tubular. / Development of a continuous emulsion copolymerization process in a tubular reactor.
Industrial emulsion polymerization processes are usually performed in batch or semi-batch stirred tanks, or in continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTR). Continuous reactors have the advantage of being smaller and providing a better product quality control by the reduction of the batch-to-batch variations. In addition, periodical self-sustained oscillations in

5. Risk analysis of investments in-farm milk cooling tanks
A risk analysis for the installation of milk cooling tanks (250, 500 and 1,000 L) on Brazilian rural properties was conducted in this study. The results showed that all investments had a return higher than the annual 12% minimum rate of attractiveness. There was a direct relationship between tank size and investment profitability and an inverse relation betw

6. Associative experience for purchasing and use of milk expanding and cooling tanks / ExperiÃncia associativa para aquisiÃÃo e uso de tanques de expansÃo e resfriamento de leite.
The deregulation of the sector occurred in the early 1990 and the already consolidated internationalization of markets have presented a series of injunctions to the productive chain of milk, in particular in the primary production, imposing to the organizations the need for a wide reformulation of their structures and strategies in order that such organisms

7. DETERMINAÇÃO EXPERIMENTAL DO COEFICIENTE DE TROCA DE CALOR EM UM GERADOR DE PASTA DE GELO / EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT IN AN ICE SLURRY GENERATOR
New ice crystal slurry thermal energy storage (TES) system has been developed for both HVAC and process cooling applications. The system uses an orbital rod evaporator (ORE), a vertical shell-and-tube heat exchanger with mechanical heat transfer augmentation, as a dynamic ice maker to generate liquid ice. Ice forms continuously without accumulation in the OR

8. Estudo numerico e experimental de fonomeno de estratificação termica em armazenamento de calor e frio
The objective of this work is the numerical and experimental study of liquid stratified storage tanks by sensible heat. A two-dimensional model is employed based upon the equations for conservation of mass, momentum and energy. The numerical solution is obtained using the control - volume method due to Patankar. The degradation of stratification is analysed

9. Desenvolvimento de um sistema especialista para o projeto de unidades industriais de produção de alcool
In this work an expert system was developed for the design of large scale continuous fermentation units for alcohol production, using the shell PcPlus from Texas Instruments. This expert system is based on an intensive rule-based program, whose knowledge base was structured using both expert knowledge data and industrial rules of thumb, and on computer simul

10. Estudo de algumas variaveis no resfriamento continuo por imersão de frango
After scalding, plucking and evisceration the carcass shows a temperature of 38°- 40°C and has to be cooled down rapidly to avoid the development of microorganisms and other processes responsible for its deterioration. Immersion in low-temperature water is a process largely used for cooling down the poultry. As this water needs various treatments and repre

11. Effects of metals on Legionella pneumophila growth in drinking water plumbing systems.
An investigation of the chemical environment and growth of Legionella pneumophila in plumbing systems was conducted to gain a better understanding of its ecology in this habitat. Water samples were collected from hospital and institutional hot-water tanks known to have supported L. pneumophila and were analyzed for 23 chemical parameters. The chemical enviro

12. Assessment of platelet function in patients with Raynaud's syndrome.
Platelet function was studied in 11 patients with Raynaud's syndrome and 11 healthy controls. Platelets obtained from patients with Raynaud's syndrome were significantly more responsive to adrenaline, produced more thromboxane A2, and were resistant to prostaglandin inhibitors (prostacyclin and prostaglandin E1) of platelet aggregation. Platelets from contro
