1. ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF YEAST STRAINS FROM SUGARCANE MOLASSES, DATES AND FIGS FOR ETHANOL PRODUCTION UNDER CONDITIONS SIMULATING ALGAL HYDROLYSATE
ABSTRACT Yeast strains were isolated from sugar cane molasses (S1), dates (S2) and figs (S3) and the ethanol production was evaluated in batch condition. A comparison was made with the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The strains showed tolerant characteristics to stressful conditions like salinity and ethanol. The isolated strains produced ethanol; at 20 h o

2. Acetic acid production by the newly isolated Pseudomonas sp. CSJ-3
ABSTRACT A fermentative acetic acid producing strain, named CSJ-3, was isolated from sludge and identified as Pseudomonas sp. on the basis of 16S rRNA gene analysis. The effects of cultivation conditions on the production of acetic acid by Pseudomonas sp. CSJ-3 were investigated in batch fermentation, and the maximum yield of acetic acid reached up to 0.49 %

3. Direct MALDI-TOF/TOF analyses of unnatural beauvericins produced by the endophytic fungus Fusarium oxysporum SS46
The best time of production of the cyclohexadepsipeptide beauvericin by the endophytic fungus Fusarium oxysporum SS46 in Czapek medium was evaluated. The highest level of beauvericin production was found on day 21 of fermentative culture, as assessed by quantitative analysis by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with a photodiode array detector.

4. Molecular characterisation and biomass and metabolite production of Lactobacillus reuteri LPB P01-001: a potential probiotic
Lactobacillus reuteri LPB P01-001 was isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of wild swine and was characterised by biochemical testing and sequencing of gene 16S rRNA. A simple and low-cost culture medium based on cane sugar (2.5% p/v) and yeast extract (1% p/v) was used in the production of this probiotic. The fermentative conditions were a) pH control a

5. Otimização do meio de cultura para a fermentação direta de melaço de cana para produção de ácido láctico por Lactobacillus delbrueckii spp. bulgaricus / Optimization of medium for direct fermentation of sugarcane molasses for lactic acid production by Lactobacillus delbrueckii spp. bulgaricus
The interest in lactic acid has grown strongly in the last years since the discovery of its properties of application in production of biodegradable and biocompatible polylactate polymers and their application as "green solvent¿ or ¿safety solvent¿ to processes of mixtures of solvents in the chemical industry. Considering the commercial potential of lacti

7. Produção de cefamicina C por Streptomyces clavuligerus em batelada e batelada alimentada
Cephamycin C (CephC) is a natural antibiotic produced by Streptomyces clavuligerus that presents β-lactamases resistance, enzymes that clives β-lactam of antibiotics. The aim of present work was study cephamycin production by Streptomyces clavuligerus in batch and fed-batch cultivations, in order to define important parameters as culture medium and

10. Study of the production of glutatione from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and evaluation of application of magnetic fields during fermentation / Estudo da produção de glutationa a partir de Saccharomyces cerevisiae e avaliação da aplicação de campos magneticos durante as fermentações
Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide consisting of L-glutamate, L-cysteine and glycine. One of its most important functions is a role as an antioxidant against the toxic effects of oxygen and other oxidative compounds. GSH is important for several metabolic functions of cells, such as protection from oxidation by peroxides, transport of amino acids across cell

11. Evaluation of stress and of the fermentative potential of Saccharomyces isolates in the jaboticaba microvinification / AvaliaÃÃo de estresse e do potencial fermentativo de isolados de Saccharomyces na microvinificaÃÃo da jabuticaba.
Strains of Saccharomyces yeast are the main agents responsible for alcoholic fermentation. Those yeasts adapted to the conditions of the must (fermentative) or to be about to adapting (laboratory ones) can develop under a number of stressing challenges during vinification. The objectives of this work were to evaluate the behavior of thirteen isolates Sacchar
