1. Shredders prefer soft and fungal-conditioned leaves, regardless of their initial chemical traits

2. Influence of season, environment and feeding habits on the enzymatic activity of peptidase and β-glucosidase in the gastrointestinal tract of two Siluriformes fishes (Teleostei)
The enzymatic activities involved in the digestion of proteins and carbohydrates were compared among three organs of the digestive track of two Siluriformes fish species, and between two areas: a reservoir, and an area downriver of it. Our aim was to test the hypothesis that the digestive organs of species with varied feeding habits have different enzymatic

3. Trophic relationships between macroinvertebrates and fish in a pampean lowland stream (Argentina)
The diet and trophic relationships between the macroinvertebrates Phyllogomphoides joaquini Rodrigues Capítulo, 1992 and Coenagrionidae (Odonata), Chironomidae (Diptera), Diplodon delodontus (Lamarck, 1919) (Bivalvia: Hyriidae), and Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck, 1822) (Gastropoda: Ampulariidae) and the fishes Pimelodella laticeps Eigenmann, 1917 (Heptapter

4. Ecophysiological responses to the effect of annual management on an endemic viviparous fish in central plateau of Mexico
Studies on the biological aspects of fish typically focus on species that currently have commercial value, causing species that lack such market value to be ignored. This is the case of several freshwater fish, specifically of several members of the Goodeidae family. In the State of Querétaro there are several species of this family characterized for being

5. Diet and functional feeding groups of Chironomidae (Diptera) in the Middle Paraná River floodplain (Argentina)
The gut contents of nine genera of benthic Chironominae and Tanypodinae from the Middle Paraná River floodplain habitats (a lake and a secondary channel) were analyzed to determine their feeding patterns and functional feeding groups. Amorphous detritus, animal and vegetal tissues, and mineral materials (predominantly sand) were observed in the larval guts.

6. Caracterização trófica da ictiofauna da Represa do Beija-Flor, na Estação Ecológica de Jataí, Luiz Antônio, SP
The feeding habits, reproduction and growth of omnivores, herbivores, detritivores and iliófagos fish species from the Beija-flor reservoir in Jataí Ecological Station were investigated. This provides information on the trophic interaction between species, feeding habits, establishing guilds and also provides subsidies for monitoring the the Beija-flor res

7. Ecologia trófica e ecomorfologia da ictiofauna de igarapés maranhenses
The trophic ecology is one of the most important aspects to understand the role of a species in the community and in the ecosystem functioning. Studies regarding the feeding of fishes coupled to the ecomorphology of a species become important tools in understanding their ecological role and position in the environment. The present study aimed to analyze the

8. RelaÃÃes ecolÃgicas entre Melampus coffeus (Gastropoda: Pulmonata) e a serapilheira no mÃdio estuÃrio do rio Pacoti, Cearà / Ecological relations between Melampus coffeus (Gastropoda: Pulmonata) and the leaflitter in the middle estuary of Pacoti river, CearÃ
The litter is essential for the nutrients and organic matter cycles in forests ecosystems. These vegetal detritus are a food source to many groups of animals that act directly on the litter decomposition. Litter also seems to provide microhabitats and works as a shelter for many individuals of the mangrove fauna. The gastropod Melampus coffeus (Linnaeus, 175

Diet of Cnesterodon decemmaculatus (Poeciliidae) and Jenynsia multidentata (Anablepidae) in a hypertrophic shallow lake of Uruguay
Diet of Cnesterodon decemmaculatus (Jenyns, 1842) and Jenynsia multidentata (Jenyns, 1842) were analysed in Lake Rodó, an urban hypertrophic lake from Montevideo, Uruguay. Both species displayed omnivory. The most consumed items for C. decemmaculatus were zooplankton, periphyton, phytoplankton and detritus; the diet of J. multidentata included zooplankton,

11. Species assembly rules and the biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationship / Regras entre assemblÃias de espÃcies: relaÃÃo entre biodiversidade e funcionamento do ecossistema
The biological diversity of ecosystems has important implications for their functioning. However, in order for reliable predictions to be made on the effects of species extinctions and/or additions on particular ecosystem functions, accurate knowledge is required on the ways in which species interact. These interactions in turn are important drivers of commu

12. Dieta de espécies de Anostomidae (Teleostei, Characiformes) na área de influência do reservatório de Manso, Mato Grosso, Brasil
The diet of four species of Anostomidae (Leporinus friderici Bloch, 1794, L. striatus Kner, 1858, L. elongatus Valenciennes, 1849 and Leporinus sp.) were investigated in the Manso Reservoir, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. Fish were sampled in three sites: upriver, in the main body of the reservoir, and below the dam. Were analized 276 stomachs. The diet was eval
