1. ESTUDO MICROANALÍTICO DA PRECIPITAÇÃO DE MICRO E NANOPARTÍCULAS MAGNÉTICAS EM LIGAS DILUÍDAS DE CU-CO / MICROANALYTICAL STUDY OF MAGNETIC MICRO AND NANOPARTICLES PRECIPITATED IN DILUTE CU-CO ALLOYS
The isothermal decomposition processes of dilute Cu-Co bulk alloys have been investigated by means of analytical transmission electron microscopy. The precipitation of ferromagnetic Co particles in non-magnetic Cu matrix after aging treatments was revealed by a variety of electron-microscopy techniques: TEM diffraction contrast, high resolution electron micr

2. Estudo floristico e fitossociologico de um gradiente altitudinal no planalto residual do Urucum - Mato Grosso do Sul - Brasil
This is a structural and floristic study of an altitudinal gradient on the Urucum plateau, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. This study is divided into three chapters: The first deals with floristic, structural and diversity variations in trees and shrubs and their relationships with the environmental features associated with altitude; the second deals with the va

3. RECIPITATION PROCESSES CONTROLLED BY LATTICE AND GRAIN BOUNDARY DIFFUSION IN ALLOY 33 (FE-NI-CR-MO-N) / PROCESSOS DE PRECIPITAÇÃO INTERGRANULAR E VOLUMÉTRICA NA LIGA 33 (FE-NI-CR-MO-N)

4. Estudo da precipitação de nitreto de cromo e fase sigma por simulação térmica da zona afetada pelo calor na soldagem multipasse de aços inoxidáveis duplex. / Chromium nitride and sigma phase precipitation study by heat-affected zone thermal simulation of duplex stainless steels multipass welding.
Duplex stainless steels belong to a group of high performance stainless steels regarding to corrosion and mechanical properties. These achievements are related to a suitable chemical composition and a balanced microstructure. During welding thermal cycles the microstructure changes and, consequently, corrosion and mechanical properties might be impaired due

5. Caracterização geologica de um reservatorio fluvio-eolico da Bacia do Reconcavo-Bahia, Brasil
This dissertation presents a detailed study of an Early Cretaceous, fluvial-aeolian reservoir from the Recôncavo Basin, northeastern Brazil. This study, developed at the oil field scale, inc1uded essentially: (1) the description of lithofacies and lithofacies associations, as well as their depositional processes; (2) the interpretation of depositional syste

6. Discontinuous, conserved neutralization epitopes overlapping the CD4-binding region of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 gp120 envelope glycoprotein.
Monoclonal antibodies have been isolated from human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1)-infected patients that recognize discontinuous epitopes on the gp120 envelope glycoprotein, that block gp120 interaction with the CD4 receptor, and that neutralize a variety of HIV-1 isolates. Using a panel of HIV-1 gp120 mutants, we identified amino acids important for

7. Iodination of hepatitis A virus reveals a fourth structural polypeptide.
Hepatitis A virus present in the feces of two patients with naturally acquired hepatitis A was purified, radiolabeled with 125I, and analyzed by discontinuous sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. In addition to the three structural polypeptides previously reported, a fourth polypeptide with a molecular weight of 14,000 was detected and

8. Separation, Isolation, and Immunological Studies of the Structural Proteins of Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis Virus
Three viral proteins were separated from the TC-83 strain of Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis virus by discontinuous polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis after disruption with sodium dodecyl sulfate and β-2-mercaptoethanol. These proteins were inoculated into rabbits and the resultant antisera were tested for immunological activity by gel precipitation, pl

9. Aragonite crystallization in primary cell cultures of multicellular isolates from a hard coral, Pocillopora damicornis
The foundation of marine coral reef ecosystems is calcium carbonate accumulated primarily by the action of hard corals (Coelenterata: Anthozoa: Scleractinia). Colonial hard coral polyps cover the surface of the reef and deposit calcium carbonate as the aragonite polymorph, stabilized into a continuous calcareous skeleton. Scleractinian coral skeleton composi

10. Influence of Precipitation and Soil on Transport of Fecal Enterococci in Fractured Limestone Aquifers
Limestone aquifers provide the main drinking water resources of southern Italy. The groundwater is often contaminated by fecal bacteria because of the interaction between rocks having high permeability and microbial pollutants introduced into the environment by grazing and/or manure spreading. The microbial contamination of springwater in picnic areas locate

11. Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis virus. I. Concentration and purification of the infectious virus.
Two procedures for the purification of infectious lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus from cell culture fluid have been developed. If large quantities of very pure virus are to be prepared, infected L cells are maintained with a medium supplemented with calf serum, the proteins of which have been largely removed by pretreatment with polyethylene glycol. Two d

12. Evidence from a carbohydrate incorporation assay for direct activation of bone marrow myelopoietic precursor cells by bacterial cell wall constitutents.
The stimulation of incorporation of [3H]galactose into membrane glycoconjugates, measured in a precipitation test, was used as a criterion for activation of bone marrow cells. In this assay, purified bacterial lipopolysaccharide, lipoprotein, and murein monomer and dimer fragments all activated rat bone marrow cells in vitro. The response was dose dependent,
