1. In silico prediction of inhibitory potential of a punicalagin β-anomer against SARS-COV-2 main protease (MPRO)
The pandemic caused by the new coronavirus has resulted in a global health emergency and has prompted an urgent need for new treatment strategies. No target-specific drugs are currently available for SARS-CoV-2, but new drug candidates targeting the viral replication cycle are being explored. A prime target of drug-discovery efforts is the SARS-CoV-2 main pr

2. Clinico-epidemiological profile of patients at children’s psychosocial care centers in São Bernardo do Campo: a cross-sectional study
ABSTRACT BACKGROUDS: Child and Adolescent Psychosocial Care Centers (Centros de Atenção Psicossocial, CAPSI) are dedicated centers for persistent psychiatric disorders, which provide an individualized therapeutic approach based on extra-hospital services. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to describe the clinico-epidemiological profiles of the patients seeking interv

3. How can we improve antidepressant adherence in the management of depression? A targeted review and 10 clinical recommendations
Adherence to antidepressants is crucial for optimal treatment outcomes when treating depressive disorders. However, poor adherence is common among patients prescribed antidepressants. This targeted review summarizes the main factors associated with poor adherence, interventions that promote antidepressant adherence, pharmacological aspects related to antidep

4. Self-Assembled Nanoparticles of Diruthenium(II,III)-Ibuprofen Anticancer Metallodrug
The diruthenium(II,III)-ibuprofen (RuIbp) metallodrug shows anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo. The encapsulation into lipid nanoparticles enhanced the efficacy in glioblastoma, breast and prostate cancer cells. Here we report data for RuIbp hydrophobicity, solubility in alcohol/water, and behavior in 1-5% ethanol/water and ethanol/cell culture medium.

5. ABRINDO A CAIXA DE PANDORA DOS NANOMEDICAMENTOS: HÁ REALMENTE MUITO MAIS ‘ESPAÇO LÁ EMBAIXO’
Limitations of conventional treatment and dosage forms prompted the investigation of novel approaches that combine efficacy, selectivity and fewer adverse effects. These are the main promises of nanomedicine, generally defined as the application of nanotechnology to the biomedical field. Despite the considerable advances over the years and the large number o

6. Tadalafil-loaded PLGA microspheres for pulmonary administration: preparation and evaluation
Tadalafil, a long-acting PED-5 inhibitor, is commonly used for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). However, its efficacy and clinical application are severely limited by the poor water solubility, low bioavailability and a series adverse effects (e.g. headaches, indigestion). In this study, tadalafil was prepared and loaded into biodegrad

7. Downregulation of lncRNA CCDC26 contributes to imatinib resistance in human gastrointestinal stromal tumors through IGF-1R upregulation
Imatinib is the first line of therapy for patients with metastatic or gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). However, drug resistance limits the long-term effect of imatinib. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as key players in regulating drug resistance in cancer. In this study, we investigated the association between lncRNA CCDC26 and IGF-1R in G

8. Preparation and physicochemical characterization of prazosin conjugated PLGA nanoparticles for drug delivery of flutamide
In the current work, a sustained drug delivery system of flutamide (FLT) was developed using Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) decorated bypoly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) grafted prazosin (PLGA-PEG-Praz) as a targeting moiety. In a multi-step reaction, PLGA was linked to PEG and prazosin. The structure of the synthesized polymers was confirmed by FTIR and 1H

9. Suicidal behavior among substance users: data from the Second Brazilian National Alcohol and Drug Survey (II BNADS)
Objective: To investigate the prevalence rates of suicidal ideation (SI) and suicide attempts (SA) and their association with substance use in a nationally representative sample of Brazilians. Methods: The Second Brazilian National Alcohol and Drug Survey (II BNADS) is a household cross-sectional survey that investigated the consumption of psychotropic dru

10. Natural products as new antimitotic compounds for anticancer drug development
Cell cycle control genes are frequently mutated in cancer cells, which usually display higher rates of proliferation than normal cells. Dysregulated mitosis leads to genomic instability, which contributes to tumor progression and aggressiveness. Many drugs that disrupt mitosis have been studied because they induce cell cycle arrest and tumor cell death. Thes

11. Low density lipoprotein modified silica nanoparticles loaded with docetaxel and thalidomide for effective chemotherapy of liver cancer
In the present study, we successfully developed a docetaxel (DTX) and thalidomide (TDD) co-delivery system based on low density lipoprotein (LDL) modified silica nanoparticles (LDL/SLN/DTX/TDD). By employing the tumor homing property of LDL and the drug-loading capability of silica nanoparticles, the prepared LDL/SLN/DTX/TDD was expected to locate and specif

12. Exploring the natural chemiome to target interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) cytokines: an atomic scale investigation for novel rheumatoid arthritis drug discovery
ABSTRACT Natural compounds are a gold mine for treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The etiology of this disease is linked to inflammation, where cytokines play an important role. Strategies have been drafted for targeting cytokines as a therapeutic option in patients with RA. Inhibiting cytokines with natural compounds has become a major focus for the develo
