1. Estimation Uncertainties in the Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio Network Optimization
In this work, we investigate the effects of estimation uncertainties in the optimization of the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) at the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks. The OSNR optimization increases the network throughput and energy efficiency and it enables to minimize the number of retransmissions by higher layers. The OSNR op

2. DYNAMIC PILOT-SYMBOL ALLOCATION FOR CLOSED-LOOP OFDM SYSTEMS / ALOCACÃO DINÂMICA DE SÍMBOLOS-PILOTO PARA SISTEMAS OFDM DE ENLACE FECHADO
OFDM systems have gathered quite some attention from international standardization bodies for the past decade. Various works in literature aim at optimizing transmission for these systems in the open-loop scenario, i.e. when there is no feedback communication between transmitter and receiver. This work focuses on the utilization of a closed-loop for OFDM sys

3. A multiagent framework for cognitive radio / Radios cognitivos : implemetnação de uma plataforma multiagentes
In frequencies lower than 3 GHz, a demand occurs out of the frequency spectrum due to the expansion of the wireless communication network, mainly for outdoor applications. Studies show that, there are great gaps of the frequency spectrum in the bands up to 3 GHz. The allocation model of the frequency spectrum needs reformulatiQn for the use of these gaps. Th

4. Application of artificial intelligence techniques for dynamic channel allocation on wireless networks. / Aplicação de técnicas de inteligência artificial na alocação dinâmica de canais em redes sem fio.
In the last years, mobile networks became more important for communication systems infrastructure. One area of great growth is mobile computation, which is performed through radio signals. The amount of available channels rarely is enough to attend the increasing demand. This work presents a solution for the channel allocation topic, a challenging topic in

In cellular networks, communication among mobile devices is accomplished through base stations (fixed antennas). A base station allocates communication channels whenever a mobile device (a cell phone, for example) in its coverage area requests communication with some other device (mobile or fixed). With the rapidly growing number of mobile devices, the use o

7. CHANNEL ALLOCATION COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS FOR TDMA TECHNOLOGY / ALOCAÇÃO DE CANAIS ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA PARA TECNOLOGIA TDMA
Fixed channel assignment -FCA- brings to the Cellular Communication Systems stability at the cost of the use of frequency planning, leading to low tolerance to traffic variability. Dynamic channel assignment -DCA- algorithms have been proposed by several authors in order to minimize these problems, incorporating flexibility to the system with respect to chann

8. DYNAMIC ALLOCATION OF CHANNEL WITH PRIORITY TO CALLS THAT ARE IN HANDOFF / ALOCAÇÃO DINÂMICA DE CANAIS COM PRIORIDADE PARA CHAMADAS EM HANDOFF
This work investigates the behavior of channel allocation schemes for Mobile Cellular Systems, when associated with channel guards giving priority to calls that are in handoff procedure. The objective of this association is a better call quality compared to the one in which this technique is not used. Simulation results show that indeed this can be achieved.
