1. On the identity of Porcellana paivacarvalhoi Rodrigues da Costa, 1968 (Crustacea: Anomura: Porcellanidae)
Abstract Porcellana paivacarvalhoi Rodrigues da Costa, 1968, described from southeastern Brazil (São Sebastião, São Paulo), is morphologically similar to the eastern Atlantic P. platycheles (Pennant, 1777), and also to the west African P. africana Chace, 1956. The synonymy between P. paivacarvalhoi and P. platycheles was proposed by previous authors witho

2. Carbon Stocks and Pools in Relation to the Texture of Kaolinitic Soils from the Brazilian East Coast
ABSTRACT: Extremely kaolinitic soils of Tertiary age elevations on the Brazilian east coast present a wide range of texture, which is recognized as one of the main factors controlling the soil organic matter contents. This study aimed to investigate the organic C storage of different compartments of kaolinitic soils. The studied soils had a wide particle siz

3. Breeze Potential Along the Brazilian Northern and Northeastern Coast
ABSTRACT The breeze potential along the Brazilian northern and northeastern coast was studied using wind data from the Climate Forecast System Reanalysis for the period between 1980 and 2010. March and September were considered, which are representative of the rainy and dry (or less rainy) periods, respectively. The Brazilian northern and northeastern coast

4. Seasonal influence of drifting seaweeds on the structure of fish assemblages on the eastern equatorial Brazilian coast

5. Molecular evidence of two cryptic species of Stramonita (Mollusca, Muricidae) in the southeastern Atlantic coast of Brazil
Abstract Snails of the genus Stramonita are commonly found in the rocky intertidal habitat of the western Atlantic Ocean coast. They belong to a monophyletic taxon that occurs along the tropical and warm-temperate Atlantic and eastern Pacific rocky shores. This genus comprises different valid species and members of the S. haemastoma complex. In the present s

6. History, distribution, and seasonal abundance of the Least Tern Sternula antillarum (Aves: Charadriiformes: Sternidae) in Brazil
We review existing data on the distribution of the Least Tern, Sternula antillarum along the Brazilian coast, based on the literature and museum specimens, and present results of a year-long study (October 2008 to September 2009) on the seasonal abundance of this species on a large tidal flat area, Cajuais Bank, in the State of Ceará, north-eastern Brazil.

7. Scolelepis (Polychaeta: Spionidae) from the Brazilian coast with a diagnosis of the genus
Five species of Scolelepis have been reported for the Brazilian coast. This study raises this number, with two new records: S. acuta Treadwell, 1914, originally from Eastern Pacific, and Scolelepis andradei Delgado-Blas, Díaz & Liñero-Arana, 2009, from the Caribbean Sea. Furthermore, two species were found to have an expanded geographic range along the Bra

8. Molecular surveillance of the Newcastle disease virus in domestic and wild birds on the North Eastern Coast and Amazon biome of Brazil
Brazil is one of the world's largest countries with a rich diversity of wildlife, including resident and migratory wild birds, which may be natural reservoirs of the Newcastle disease virus (NDV). Because Brazil is a major global exporter of chicken meat, the emergence of such a disease may have a huge negative impact not only on the economy due to trade res

9. Oil spill modeling off the Brazilian eastern coast: the effect of tidal currents on oil fate

11. Seasonal and intraseasonal variability of the western boundary regime off the Eastern Brazilian Coast
Nesta tes

12. "Utilização do método dos povoamentos na caracterização de comunidades bentônicas em trecho do infralitoral consolidado da Enseada das Palmas, Ilha Anchieta, Ubatuba (SP)" / Settlements method for the characterization of hard bottom benthic communities in an infralittoral stretch in Palmas Bay, Anchieta Island, Ubatuba (SP)
The biodiversity characterization of benthic communities in the Brazilian coast is limited to a few works, which studied an area of about 3,400 m2. The objective of this study was to propose a new method, unprecedented in hard bottom marine communities, based in the sampling of landscape heterogeneity units, named physiognomies and settlements, aiming at an
