1. Specific interventions for prevention of muscle injury in lower limbs: systematic review and meta-analysis

2. Effects of eccentric exercise in pressure pain threshold in subjects with functional ankle equinus condition

3. A single bout of exercise with a flexible pole induces significant cardiac autonomic responses in healthy men
OBJECTIVES: Flexible poles can provide rapid eccentric and concentric muscle contractions. Muscle vibration is associated with a "tonic vibration reflex” that is stimulated by a sequence of rapid muscle stretching, activation of the muscle spindles and stimulation of a response that is similar to the myotatic reflex. Literature studies analyzing the acute

4. Immobilization and therapeutic passive stretching generate thickening and increase the expression of laminin and dystrophin in skeletal muscle
Extracellular matrix and costamere proteins transmit the concentric, isometric, and eccentric forces produced by active muscle contraction. The expression of these proteins after application of passive tension stimuli to muscle remains unknown. This study investigated the expression of laminin and dystrophin in the soleus muscle of rats immobilized with the

5. The effects of stretching on the flexibility, muscle performance and functionality of institutionalized older women
Stretching has been widely used to increase the range of motion. We assessed the effects of a stretching program on muscle-tendon length, flexibility, torque, and activities of daily living of institutionalized older women. Inclusion/exclusion criteria were according to Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) (>13), Barthel Index (>13) and Lysholm Scoring Scale

6. Analysis of adaptive muscular responses to stretching and eccentric exercises applied after immobilization of the hindlimb in female rats in postnatal development / Análise das respostas musculares adaptativas frente a protocolos de alongamento e exercício excêntrico, aplicados após desuso do membro posterior de ratas em desenvolvimento pós-natal

7. Active stret ching program of the knee flexor muscle in a standing posture: effect on the ROM and muscle torque.

8. O efeito do atraso em movimentos reversos do cotovelos : comparação entre sujeitos saudaveis e portadores da doença de Parkinson / The effect of delay on the control of reversal movements of the elbow: comparison between healthy individuals and Parkinson s disease patients
Within this study were investigated the effects of special conditions like aging and the Parkinson s disease on the control ofreversal movements ofthe elbow joint performed with a variable delay between the two components (Ml and M2) ofreversal. Another aim was to verify if the stretch-shortening cycle exerts his potentiating effects on muscular contraction

10. Eccentric head positions reveal disorders of conjugate eye movement.
The effect of head position on conjugate horizontal gaze was studied in healthy adults, in patients with multiple sclerosis without eye movement signs, and in patients with downbeat nystagmus indicative of low brain stem lesions. Displacements of gaze from primary position to 30 degrees left and right were recorded using the electro-oculogram, with the head

11. Influence of plaque morphology on the mechanism of luminal enlargement after directional coronary atherectomy and balloon angioplasty.
OBJECTIVE--To relate the mechanism of luminal gain after directional atherectomy and balloon angioplasty to the morphological characteristics of the coronary lesions, assessed by intravascular ultrasound imaging. DESIGN--Intravascular ultrasound imaging was performed before and after the revascularisation procedure to assess the contribution of wall stretchi

12. Shortening of muscle fibres during stretch of the active cat medial gastrocnemius muscle: the role of tendon compliance.
1. The length of muscle fibres in the medial gastrocnemius (MG) muscle of the anaesthetized cat was measured using ultrasound techniques. During the course of 'isometric' contractions, the muscle fibres shortened by stretching the compliant tendons, until the muscle fibres could no longer produce enough force to stretch the tendons further. At optimal muscle
