1. EIF1AX c.338-2A>T splice site mutation in a patient with trabecular adenoma and cytological indeterminate lesion
SUMMARY The EIF1AX gene mutations have been recently associated with papillary thyroid carcinoma and anaplastic thyroid cancer. According with these reports, the gene as been considered as a drive gene for thyroid cancer development. However, the occurrence of these alterations in benign thyroid lesions is not known and is still under investigation. Some aut

2. Overexpression of eukaryotic initiation factor 5A (eIF5A) affects susceptibility to benznidazole in Trypanosoma cruzi populations
Eukaryotic initiation factor 5A (eIF5A) is a conserved protein with an essential role in translation elongation. Using one and two-dimensional western blotting, we showed that the eIF5A protein level was 2-fold lower in benznidazole (BZ)-resistant (BZR and 17LER) Trypanosoma cruzi populations than in their respective susceptible counterparts (BZS and 17WTS).

4. DDT and derivatives may target insulin pathway proteins

5. Inibição do estresse do retículo endoplasmático restaura o conteúdo de ABCA-1 e o efluxo de colesterol em macrófagos tratados com albumina modificada por glicação avançada / Inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress restores the ABCA-1 protein level and cholesterol efflux in advanced glycated albumin-treated macrophages

Bipolar disorder (BD) is a severe chronic psychiatric disorder that has been related to several cellular dysfunctions, such as an impaired endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response. We aimed to evaluate the unfolded protein response (UPR) and the outcome of this cellular process in cultured lymphocytes from patients with BD and healthy subjects, assessing i

7. Análise de Marcadores Gênicos de Estresse Genotóxico em Fibroblastos Humanos Normais e Células de Glioblastoma. / Analysis of Gene Markers of Genotoxic Stress in Human Normal Fibroblasts and Glioblastoma Cells.

8. Influence of culture medium on the production of eif antigen from Leishmania chagasi in recombinant Escherichia coli
With the advent of recombinant DNA technology, recombinant protein expression has become an important tool in the study of the structure, function and identification of new proteins, especially those with therapeutic functions. Escherichia coli has been the predominant prokaryote used in genetic engineering studies due to the abundance of information about i

9. Transcriptional regulation of bidirectional gene pairs by 17-β-estradiol in MCF-7 breast cancer cells
Using cDNA microarray analysis, we previously identified a set of differentially expressed genes in primary breast tumors based on the status of estrogen and progesterone receptors. In the present study, we performed an integrated computer-assisted and manual search of potential estrogen response element (ERE) binding sites in the promoter region of these ge

11. Regulation of protein synthesis and the role of eIF3 in cancer
Maintenance of cell homeostasis and regulation of cell proliferation depend importantly on regulating the process of protein synthesis. Many disease states arise when disregulation of protein synthesis occurs. This review focuses on mechanisms of translational control and how disregulation results in cell malignancy. Most translational controls occur during

Protein kinases involved in stress regulation in Trypanosoma.
Protozoa of the genus Trypanosoma have a complex life cycle alternating between vertebrate and invertebrate hosts. The adaptation to different environmental conditions requires rapid changes in gene expression to fill up the morphological and metabolic requirements for survival. Very little is known about the mechanisms that control these changes and the sig
