1. Extensional viscosity measurements of concentrated emulsions with the use of the opposed nozzles device
This paper presents results of experimental studies on the apparent extensional viscosity of emulsions. The apparent extensional viscosity measurements were carried out with the use of a customized rheometer which utilizes stagnation flow between two opposing nozzles. Apparent extensional viscosity was determined for emulsions containing 60, 70 and 74 vol.%

2. Identification of non-newtonian rheological parameter through an inverse formulation
In this work, we introduce an inverse formulation to be applied in the identification of a rheological parameter associated to non-Newtonian fluids. It is built upon a creeping flow through a 4 to 1 axisymmetric abrupt contraction. The fluid is modeled by the Generalized Newtonian Fluid constitutive equation. The viscosity function is based on the one propos

3. Significado tectônico dos depósitos de leques aluviais da Formação Santa Bárbara (Eo-Paleozóico) na região de Caçapava do Sul (RS, Brasil)
The alluvial fan deposits of Early Paleozoic Santa Bárbara Formation, located in Sul-rio-grandense Shield area of southernmost Brazil, have been analyzed here in terms of facies associations and tectonic significance. The investigated unit comprises conglomerates, sandstones, and siltstones, deposited probably under continental semi-arid climate conditions,

4. LIMITES OPERACIONAIS DO PROCESSO DE REVESTIMENTO POR CORTINA / OPERABILITY LIMITS OF THE CURTAIN COATING PROCESS
Curtain coating is one the preferred methods for precision multi-layer coatings at high speeds. Curtain coating belongs to the class of premetered coating methods. Liquid falls as a sheet, or curtain, freely over a considerable height and under the action of gravity before it impinges onto the substrate being coated. Edge guide are needed to maintain at spec

5. Estratigrafia e petrogênese das sequências vulcânicas paleoproterozóicas na região de São Félix do Xingu (PA), Província Mineral de Carajás / Stratigraphy and petrogenesis of the paleoproterozoic volcanic sequences in the São Félix do Xingu (PA) region, Carajás Mineral Province
Near the São Félix do Xingu city, centersouth portion of the Pará state, in the context of the Carajás Mineral Province, occur extensive Paleoproterozoic volcanoplutonism (1.88 1.87 Ga) exceptionally well-preserved and grouped in the Sobreiro and Santa Rosa formations. These suites are generically correlated to Uatumã Supergroup volcanoplutonism, a magm

6. Study of lineal and non lineal viscoelastic behavior of PP/PA-6 polymer blends compatibilized or no. / Estudo da viscoelasticidade linear e não linear de misturas de PP/PA-6 compatibilizadas ou não.
Rheological and morphological behaviour of polypropylene and polyamide polymer blend was studied. The values of interfacial tension were obtained between 10mN/m and 13mN/m. The interfacial tension decreased in 87% for compatibilized blend. Morphology analysis for linear viscoelastic regime shows dispersed drop diameter between 1,5µm and 20µm. The diameter

8. Computational modeling of ring textures in mesophase carbon fibers
Carbon fibers are widely used in many industrial applications due the fact of their excellent properties. Carbonaceous mesophases are liquid crystalline precursor materials that can be spun into high performance carbon fibers using the melt spinning process, which is a flow cascade consisting of pressure driven flow-converging die flow-free surface extension

9. Litoestratigrafia e deformação cenzóica na região de Icapuí, Ceará, e implicações para a estruturação de campos de petróleo na borda ocidental da bacia Potiguar(NE do Brasil)
This thesis deals with the sedimentological/stratigraphic and structural evolution of the sedimentary rocks that occur in the NW continental border of the Potiguar Basin. These rocks are well exposed along coastal cliffs between the localities of Lagoa do Mato and Icapuí, Ceará State (NE Brazil). The sedimentological/stratigraphic study involved, at the ou

10. Modelagem e simulação de um escoamento multicamadas no processo de fabricação de filmes planos de poli (etileno tereftalato)
Nmnerical simulations of a multilayer flow has been undertakenin a process for producing Poly (Ethylene Terephtalate) flat films. Viscosity functions are fitted by Bird-Carreau models. The temperature dependence of viscosity follows the Arrhenius equations. The motion equations are solved by POLYFLOW, a Finite ElementMethod program for viscous and viscoelast

11. Static and dynamic rigidities of normal and sickle erythrocytes. Major influence of cell hemoglobin concentration.
Static and dynamic deformabilities of erythrocytes are important determinants of microcirculatory blood flow. To determine the influence of increased cellular hemoglobin concentration on these properties, we quantitated static and dynamic deformabilities of isolated subpopulations of oxygenated normal and sickle erythrocytes with defined cell densities using

12. Flow-induced anisotropy in the susceptibility of a particle suspension
The initial susceptibility, or low-field high-frequency permeability, of a rod-like particle suspension or polymer solution can become anisotropic when the particles or molecules interact with a magnetic field in a directional manner and are nonrandomly oriented by certain types of flow field. This is the alignment that leads to thixotropy and deviatoric str
