1. Evaluation of the Direct Interaction between Amino Acids and Glutathione-Coated CdTe Quantum Dots and Application in Urinalysis for Histidine Determination
The present work aimed to direct amino acid (AA) sensing by quantum dots (QD) and development of an analytical method for potential fast clinical tests. Notably, AA with a positive charge or neutral polar chains, namely L-histidine (His) and L-threonine (Thr), responded to glutathione-coated CdTe (GSH-CdTe) (ΔF ≤ 90%, variation of fluorescence intensity).

2. Synthesis, Characterization, and Synergic Photocatalytic Activity of Amorphous TiO2/Chitosan Carbon Microspheres
In this work, we report the synthesis and characterization of new amorphous graphene-like TiO2/chitosan carbon microspheres and its performance as photocatalyst. Four different carbon chitosan microspheres materials were obtained based on the distinctive procedure to incorporate TiO2 and TiOSO4 to chitosan structure by pyrolysis at 600 °C. Detailed characte

3. Microwave Assisted Ultra-Fast Method to Synthesize Carbonate-Phosphates, Na3MCO3PO4 (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) - Relevant Materials Applied in Sodium-Ion Batteries
Although largely used in mobiles and electric vehicles applications, insertion batteries based on Li-ion technology are high-cost devices. These applications require high-performance energy storage systems with high-energy and high-power densities, which are better attained by Li-ion technology. However, stationary applications such as power plants and unint

6. Silver and gold nanoparticles from tannic acid: synthesis, characterization and evaluation of antileishmanial and cytotoxic activities
Abstract Gold (Au0) and silver (Ag0) nanoparticles were synthesized using tannic acid (TA) as both reducing and stabilizer. Nanoparticles formation, stability, and interaction with TA were compared to citrate-coated nanoparticles and monitored by UV-Vis, zeta potential, and transmission electron microscopy. TA coating resulted in a red-shift and broadening o

7. Spectroscopic Characterization of Charge Transfer Complexes of TCNE with Aromatic Amines - The First Step of Tricyanovinylation Reaction
The first step of electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions generally involves the formation of charge transfer complexes. Tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) in the presence of aromatic amines forms π-type complexes that subsequently lead to tricyanovinylation reaction. Although this kind of reaction was investigated in the past, the spectroscopic characterizati

8. Filtros digitais por transformadas de Fourier aplicados em eletroquímica
The electrochemical properties of micro and nano-electrodes are widely investigated due to their low faradaic and capacitive currents, leading to a new generation of smart and implantable devices. However, the current signals obtained in low-dimensional devices are strongly influenced by noise sources. In this paper, we show the evaluation of filters based o

10. Determinação espectrofotométrica de cefalexina em formulações farmacêuticas explorando a sua reação de transferência de carga com a quinalizarina
This work proposes a new simple and fast spectrophotometric method for cephalexin determination in pharmaceutical formulations. The method is based on the charge transfer reaction between cephalexin and quinalizarin in dimethylsulfoxide medium. Several analytical parameters related to the system were optimized and the reaction was characterized in terms of s

11. Pequenos polarons ligados e centros de cor em topázio
In the present work we studied the color beneficiation processes of colorless topaz, an abundant gemstone in Brazil. Blue topaz is the most internationally traded gemstone in the gem and market, reaching about 100 million carats per year. Almost 100% of blue topaz received some treatment to improve the color that, generally, involves some type of irradiation

12. Estudo de materiais, estruturas de dispositivos e fenômenos de transporte em sistemas fotovoltaicos híbridos orgânico-inorgânico / Study of materials, device structures and transport phenomena in hybrid photovoltaic systems
Recently a fast development in organic and hybrid photovoltaic field has been observed. Such devices are fabricated by organic semiconductors within components of a heterojunction, in which bulk heterojunctions obtained via interpenetrating networks at the sub-20-nm length scale. It permits the effective collection of photogenerated charge carriers even with
