1. Fast Catalytic Pyrolysis of Tetradecanoic Acid: Formation of Ketones as Intermediate Compounds in the Production of Hydrocarbons
This work aimed to compare two different catalysts in the production of a long chain ketone, intermediate in the production of hydrocarbons, during pyrolysis of tetradecanoic acid as a model fatty acid. The studied variables were the temperature, 450 and 600 ºC, and catalysts, γ-Al2O3 and Nb2O5, the latter has never been studied under such conditions. Pyro

2. Thermal and Catalytic Fast Pyrolysis of Oily Extracts of Microalgae: Production of Biokerosene
Three different microalgae species, Desmodesmus sp., Nannochloropsis oculata and Halamphora coffeaeformis were grown under controlled conditions. The resulting dry biomass was characterized by TG-DTA (thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis) and extracted with three solvents having different polarities. The extracts gross mass yields varied from 2% us

3. Synthesis, Characterization, and Synergic Photocatalytic Activity of Amorphous TiO2/Chitosan Carbon Microspheres
In this work, we report the synthesis and characterization of new amorphous graphene-like TiO2/chitosan carbon microspheres and its performance as photocatalyst. Four different carbon chitosan microspheres materials were obtained based on the distinctive procedure to incorporate TiO2 and TiOSO4 to chitosan structure by pyrolysis at 600 °C. Detailed characte

4. Production and Characterization of the Bio-Oil Obtained by the Fast Pyrolysis of Spent Coffee Grounds of the Soluble Coffee Industry
Agro-industrial wastes are abundant and low-cost sources of energy and chemicals. Biomass account for 14% of the world’s energy production. Industrial residues of production of soluble coffee (spent coffee grounds - SCG) have great potential due to its large-scale production and can be transformed by pyrolysis, in liquid, solid and gaseous products with ap

5. BIOMASS PYROLYSIS KINETICS: A REVIEW OF MOLECULAR-SCALE MODELING CONTRIBUTIONS
Abstract Decades of classical research on pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass has not yet produced a generalized formalism for design and prediction of reactor performance. Plagued by the limitations of experimental techniques such as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and extremely fast heating rates and low residence times to achieve high conversion to usef

6. Fast Determination of Iron and Zinc in Hair and Human Serum Samples After Alkaline Solubilization by GF AAS
Methods for the development and validation for determination of iron and zinc in human serum and hair samples by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF AAS) were performed. Solubilization was immediate by manual agitation in both samples with a 10 mL volume sample plus deionized water. Optimum pyrolysis and atomization temperatures were obtained

7. Pirólise rápida da semente de tucumã-do-Amazonas (Astrocaryum aculeatum) : caracterização da biomassa in-natura e dos produtos gerados / Fast pyrolysis of Amazon tucuma seed (Astrocaryum aculeatum) : characterization of in natura biomass and of the generated products

9. Bagaço do sorgo: estimativa de parâmetros cinéticos e pirólise analítica
Pyrolysis is currently the one of the most important technologies for transforming biomass into more useful products to society. Aiming to deepen the knowledge of the kinetics of pyrolysis, this study conducted an exploratory study of the decomposition of sorghum bagasse by thermogravimetry analysis (TG). The physicochemical characterization of sorghum bagas

10. Avaliação de biocombustível derivado do bio-óleo obtido por pirólise rápida de biomassa lignocelulósica como aditivo para gasolina
A biofuel was prepared from acid aqueous fraction (pH = 2) of bio-oil produced by fast pyrolysis (Bioware Technology) of lignocellulosic biomass (sugar cane residue) and tested in blends (2, 5, 10 e 20% v/v) with gasoline type C (common) marketed in Brazil. The specification tests made in the Refinery President Getúlio Vargas (PETROBRAS) showed increasing i

11. Experimental characterization of a reactor nozzles injetores of fast pirolise to waste conversion in refineries / Caracterização experimental de bicos injetores de um reator de pirolise rapida para conversão de residuo em refinarias
This thesis presents an analysis of problems of linear elastic fracture mechanics in anisotropic bimaterial structures. Using the boundary element method, it is possible to evaluate stress intensity factors in plane problems (2D) due to the presence of interfacial cracks between the laminae that constitute the material, when the structure is submitted to a m

12. Use of a biofuel obtained from the fast pyrolysis of sugarcane trash in an Otto engine / Uso de biocombustivel da pirolise rapida da palha de cana em um motor de ciclo Otto
In September 2002 the state of São Paulo promulgated the Law Nº 11241 by which was codified the gradual elimination of fire as a method to remove trash from the sugar-cane fields before harvestig. Large amounts of sugar-cane trash with an important energy potential will be available as a result of this law. New technologies to harvest and process this biom
