1. O teorema da alternativa de Tits / The Tits alternative
This masters project aims to give an elementary proof of the following theorem of Tits, known as the Alternative Tits Theorem: Let G be a finitely generated linear group over a field. Then either G is solvable by finite or G contains a noncyclic free subgroup. This theorem was proved by J. Tits in 1972 [4], was considered by the mathematician J.P. Serre, as

2. Álgebras bisseriais especiais / Special biserial algebras
Special biserial algebras are a class of algebras that appear in many contexts. Butler and Ringel [6] made a description of indecomposable modules and irreducible morphisms of algebras string, a subclass of special biserial algebras. We show that special biserial algebras which are not string, have only one module projective-injective indecomposable for each

3. O arco associado a uma generalização da curva Hermitiana / The arc arising from a generalization of the Hermitian curve
Obtemos novos arcos completos associados ao conjunto de pontos racionais de uma certa generalização da curva Hermitiana que é Frobenius não-clássica. A construção está relacionada ao cálculo do número de pontos racionais de uma classe de curvas de Artin-Schreier

4. Limitantes para Códigos de Peso Constante / Bounds for Constant-Weight Codes
The main purpose of this dissertation was to construct lower and upper bounds for the cardinality of the error correcting codes for constant-weight, contained in the vector space Fn 3 , where F3 is a field with three elements, knowing parameters such as length and minimum distance code. We present the main results of linear algebra necessary to develop the t

5. Identidades polinomiais graduadas de algumas àlgebras matriciais
Let K be an associative and commutative ring with 1 and let A be an associative Kalgebra with or without 1. We say that the polynomial identities of A have the Specht property if each K-algebra B satisfying all the polynomial identities of A has a finite basis for its identities. Let M2(K) be the algebra of 2 × 2 matrices over a field K. If K is a field of

6. Sistema de identidades polinomiais sem base finita
Let F be a field and let A be the free associative F-algebra (without 1) on free generators x1; x2; Let f = (x1;; xn) A and let G be an associative algebra over F. We say that f = 0 is a polynomial identity (or an identity) in G if f(g1; ; gn) = 0 for all g1; ; gn G. Two systems of polynomial identities {ui = 0}| i I} and {vj = 0} | j J} are equivalent if ev

7. Granded algebras and graded polynomial identities / Algebras graduadas e identidades polinomiais graduadas
In this work we study graded algebras and graded polynomial identities. We study two types of problems: finding the possible gradings on a given algebra, and finding a basis forthe graded identities of a given algebra. We begin with the basic definitions and results onalgebras, graded algebras, (graded) polynomial identities, etc. We give a description of th

8. Teoria dos mÃdulos idealizadores diferenciais
Given an ideal in a polynomial ring (with coefficients in a field usually assumed to have characteristic zero), we may consider the derivations that preserve it. They give rise to a special module called differential idealizer (of the given ideal). Such an object plays a primordial role in this thesis, which is divided into two main sections. In the first se

9. Geometric invariant theory and representations of quivers / Teoria geometrica dos invariantes e representações de quivers
This thesis is divided into two parts. ln the first part we present the main ideas and tools of Geometric lnvariant Theory, which is concerned with the following problem: ls it possible to give an algebraic structure to the quotient of an algebraic variety by the action of an algebraic group? Qne of the most important results says that an algebraic quotient

10. Identidades graduadas para algebras de matrizes
The study of graded polynomial identities was motivated by its many applications to Polynomial Identities Theory, like the structure theory developed by A. Kemer. Afterwards it has become an independent object of study. The graded identities can give us interesting information about the ordinary identities. At first working with matrices of order n over infi

11. Algebras de Clifford, transformações de Lorentz e o movimento de particulas carregadas
The main result presented in this thesis is a finite form (the MASTER equation) for the series of exponentials of infinitesimal generators of the Lorentz group. Explicitly, the exponential of a generator appears written by means of the first powers of the generators, in the SL(2,C) and SO(1,3) representations of the Lorentz group, multiplied by elementary fu

12. The Order of the Antipode of Finite-dimensional Hopf Algebra
Examples of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over a field, whose antipodes have arbitrary even orders ≥4 as mappings, are furnished. The dimension of the Hopf algebra is qn+1, where the antipode has order 2q, q ≥ 2, and n is an arbitrary positive integer. The algebras are not semisimple, and neither they nor their dual algebras are unimodular.
