1. A Novel Missense Mutation in SRD5A3 Causes Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation Type I (Cerebello-Ocular Syndrome)
Abstract A consanguineous Qatari family having an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe mental retardation, cerebellar vermis hypoplasia, retinal degeneration, optic nerve atrophy, ataxic gait, and seizures was studied for identification of the offending gene and mutation. Homozygosity mapping identified an 11.4 Mb critical interval at 4q12 to

2. Genetic diversity assessment of the Mexican Simmental population through pedigree analysis
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to examine the genetic variability of the Mexican Simmental. Inbreeding was calculated by year for animals born from 1985 to 2014. Proportion of ancestors known, average equivalent complete generations, generation interval, and effective size, as well as the effective numbers of founders, ancestors, and founder genomes

3. Effective population size and the genetic consequences of commercial whaling on the humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) from Southwestern Atlantic Ocean
Abstract Genotypes of 10 microsatellite loci of 420 humpback whales from the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean population were used to estimate for the first time its contemporary effective (Ne) and census (Nc) population sizes and to test the genetic effect of commercial whaling. The results are in agreement with our previous studies that found high genetic diver

4. Effects of radiant exposure values using second and third generation light curing units on the degree of conversion of a lucirin-based resin composite
Abstract Alternative photoinitiators with different absorption wavelengths have been used in resin composites (RCs), so it is crucial to evaluate the effectiveness of light-curing units (LCUs) on these products. Objective Using Fourier transform infrared analysis (FTIR) in vitro, the effects of varying radiant exposure (RE) values generated by second and t

5. REVISION TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY USING THE MODERN CONSTRAINED CONDYLAR KNEE PROSTHESIS
ABSTRACT Objective: To determine whether the second-generation constrained condylar prosthesis provided satisfactory results in revision total knee arthroplasty. Methods: A series of 41 cases of revision total knee arthroplasty using the second-generation constrained condylar knee prosthesis was reviewed. The series comprised 7 men and 34 women with a me

6. A phase III, randomized, non-inferiority study comparing the efficacy and safety of biosimilar filgrastim versus originator filgrastim for chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in breast cancer patients
OBJECTIVES: To compare the efficacy and safety of two filgrastim formulations for controlling chemotherapy-induced neutropenia and to evaluate the non-inferiority of the test drug relative to the originator. METHODS: This phase III non-inferiority study had a randomized, multicenter, and open-label design. The patients were randomized at a ratio of 1:1 wit

7. Path Planning for Unmanned Underwater Vehicle in 3D Space with Obstacles Using Spline-Imperialist Competitive Algorithm and Optimal Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic Controller
Abstract In this research, generation of a short and smooth path in three-dimensional space with obstacles for guiding an Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) without collision is investigated. This is done by utilizing spline technique, in which the spline control points positions are determined by Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) in three-dimensional s

8. Iodine nutritional status in Brazil: a meta-analysis of all studies performed in the country pinpoints to an insufficient evaluation and heterogeneity
Objectives Iodine deficiency disorder (IDD) is the result of an inadequate dietary intake of iodine, which physiological consequences are endemic goiter and thyroid dysfunction. The objective of this study was to a analyze studies that assessed the status of Brazil’s population iodine nutrition and IDD prevalence. Materials and methods Systematic review u

9. Transmission of a 1.12 Tb/s superchannel over 452 km fiber
This paper describes the transmission of a non-guard interval 1.12 Tb/s 10-carrier superchannel, launched into a 226 km recirculating loop. After two round trips (452 km) a BER below the FEC limit (3.8 x 10-3) was still obtained. To evaluate the superchannel generation technique, up to 72 comb lines (OSNRmin = 12.7 dB) were generated and modulated (DP-QPSK)

10. Population structure of Nellore cattle in northeastern Brazil
The objective of this study was to evaluate the population genetic structure of Nellore cattle in northeastern Brazil. Pedigree information was collected from 175,231 animals born from 1967 to 2007. Probability of gene origin, inbreeding, average relatedness coefficient (AR), completeness pedigree, effective population size and generation interval were calcu

11. Evaluation of conservation program for the Pantaneiro horse in Brazil
A genealogical analysis of registered Pantaneiro horses was carried out with 3647 males and 6794 females. Of these animals, 50.66% had identified sires and 48.86% identified dams. The number of pedigrees increased over the generations, with higher registration of parents of sires than dams. Two municipalities are responsible for almost 70% of all registers:

12. Taxa de geração de resíduos da construção civil em edificações na cidade de João Pessoa / GENERATION RATE OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE IN BUILDINGS IN THE CITY OF JOÃO PESSOA.
Given the high index of construction in the city of João Pessoa, in northeast Brazil and the frequent irregular disposal of its residues, the objective of this work was to study the generation rate of construction wastes (CW) based on constructed area of the building, so that a more effective inspection can be implemented by the proper instances.
