1. Plasma Carburizing of Sintered Pure Iron at Low Temperature
In this work, plasma carburizing of sintered pure iron at low temperature was investigated. Samples were carburized under a dc abnormal glow discharge in two mixed atmospheres (5%CH4 + 95%H2 and 20%CH4 + 80%H2) at 500 °C and 700 °C for 3 and 6 hours. The influence of these parameters was investigated by Scan Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (DR

2. Metallurgical response of an AISI 4140 steel to different plasma nitriding gas mixtures
Plasma nitriding is a surface modification process that uses glow discharge to diffuse nitrogen atoms into the metallic matrix of different materials. Among the many possible parameters of the process, the gas mixture composition plays an important role, as it impacts directly the formed layer's microstructure. In this work an AISI 4140 steel was plasma nitr

3. Efeito da descarga de barreira dielétrica no escoamento do ar sobre um cilindro / Effect of dielectric barrier discharge on the airflow around a cylinder
Fluids in a dielectric barrier DBD glow discharge at atmospheric pressure attracted the interest of the communities of thermo and fluid dynamics as well as control. This dissertation investigates the effects of a plasma actuator operating at 8 kV and 4.4 kHz, on the Cp curve of a PVC cylinder in a low velocity airflow. The experiment was repeated with the ac

4. Effect of Dielectric Barrier Discharge on the Airflow Around a Cylinder
Abstract: Fluids in a dielectric barrier glow discharge at atmospheric pressure have attracted interest from communities of thermo and fluid dynamics, as well as control. This work investigated the effects of a plasma actuator, operating at 8.0 kV and 4.4 kHz, on the pressure distribution around a polyvinyl chloride circular cylinder in low-velocity airflow.

6. Hardness evaluation, stoichiometry and grain size of titanium nitride obtained with plasma nitriding on Ti-6AI-4V samples
Titanium nitride films were formed on the surface of Ti-6Al-4V discs by plasma nitriding (glow discharge) in different N2:H2 atmospheres at several substrate temperatures. In this study the influence of the process parameters on dynamic micro-hardness were investigated. Grain sizes of the nitride films, determined with X-Ray Diffraction, were related to the

7. Experimental study of low-pressure nitrogen dielectric barrier discharge
The electrical and spectral characteristics of a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) are experimentally investigated in a sealed off coaxial cylinder filled with nitrogen at a pressure of 10 mbar. The discharge is a transient diffused glow at low frequency alternating voltage (60 Hz) and changes to a filamentary mode at high frequency alternating voltage (35

10. Study of ion beam sputtering using a glow discharge ion source
In this work, sputtering yield in a glow discharge ion source system has been determined using the operating parameters of the ion source. The sputtering yield is found to be varied between 0.4 to 1 atoms removed per incident ion for nitrogen while for argon between 0.2 to 1.3 atoms removed per incident ion. The feature of this ion source is high output ion
