1. Runoff inducement research for agriculture in very arid zones of Northeast Brazil.
The concept of runoff inducement for agricultural purposes in discussed in detail. Its implications to the North-East Braziliam conditions and necessity for additional research is explained. An exautive review of the research at various places in the world is included. The latest work being carried out at the Centro of Agricultural Research for Semi-Arid Tro

2. Operação analógica de transistores de múltiplas portas em função da temperatura. / Analog operation of multiple gate transistors as a function of the temperature.
In this work it is presented an analysis of the analog operation of multiple gate transistors, evaluating the Early Voltage, the open-loop voltage gain, the transconductance over the drain current ratio (gm/IDS), the drain conductance and, especially, the harmonic distortion exhibited by these devices. Along the work, FinFETs, Gate-All-Around (GAA) devices w

3. Modelagem, simulação e fabricação de circuitos analógicos com transistores SOI convencionais e de canal gradual operando em temperaturas criogênicas. / Modeling, simulation and fabrication of analog circuits with standard and graded-channel SOI transistors operating at cryogenic temperatures.

4. Study os self-heating effect in SOI transistors with graded-channel structure- GC SOI MOSFET.

5. Graded contribution of the Gβγ binding domains to GIRK channel activation
G protein coupled inwardly rectifying K+ channels (GIRK/Kir3.x) are mainly activated by a direct interaction with Gβγ subunits, released upon the activation of inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors. Although Gβγ binding domains on all four subunits have been found, the relative contribution of each of these binding sites to channel gating has not yet bee

6. Negative control mechanism with features of adaptation controls Ca2+ release in cardiac myocytes.
The central paradox of cardiac excitation-contraction coupling is that Ca(2+)-induced Ca2+ release (CICR), an inherently self-regenerating process, is finely graded by surface membrane Ca2+ current (ICa). By using FPL64176, a novel Ca2+ channel agonist that reduces inactivation of ICa, a rapid negative control mechanism was unmasked at the Ca2+ release level

7. From calcium blips to calcium puffs: Theoretical analysis of the requirements for interchannel communication
In the cytoplasm of cells of different types, discrete clusters of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate-sensitive Ca2+ channels generate Ca2+ signals of graded size, ranging from blips, which involve the opening of only one channel, to moderately larger puffs, which result from the concerted opening of a few channels in the same cluster. These channel clusters are o

8. The Ca channel in skeletal muscle is a large pore.
The permeability of Ca channels to various foreign cations has been investigated in the absence of external Ca2+. All physiological metal cations are clearly permeant, including Mg2+. The large organic cation n-butylamine+ is sparingly permeant or impermeant, but its larger derivative 1,4-diaminobutane2+ is highly permeant. Among the cations of the methylate

9. Effects of hypoxia on membrane potential and intracellular calcium in rat neonatal carotid body type I cells.
1. We have studied the effects of hypoxia on membrane potential and [Ca2+]i in enzymically isolated type I cells of the neonatal rat carotid body (the principal respiratory O2 chemosensor). Isolated cells were maintained in short term culture (3-36 h) before use. [Ca2+]i was measured using the Ca(2+)-sensitive fluoroprobe indo-1. Indo-1 was loaded into cells

10. Quantal release of acetylcholine evoked by focal depolarization at the Torpedo nerve-electroplaque junction.
To analyse evoked acetylcholine (ACh) release in the electric organ of Torpedo marmorata, a loose patch-clamp technique was used that allowed with a single extracellular electrode both focal depolarization of nerve endings and recording of the post-synaptic currents produced by the released transmitter. Two different types of post-synaptic response could be

11. A mutation that alters properties of the calcium channel in Paramecium tetraurelia.
The membrane properties of a new mutant of Paramecium tetraurelia, dancer, were compared under voltage clamp with those of the wild type. The Ca2+ current was isolated and examined using CsCl-filled electrodes and tetraethylammonium in the bath solution to block K+ channels. The amplitude of the Ca2+ transient was not altered by the mutation. However, the Ca

12. A model of calcium dynamics in cardiac myocytes based on the kinetics of ryanodine-sensitive calcium channels.
The ryanodine-sensitive calcium channels are pivotal to signal transduction and cell function in many cell types, including cardiac myocytes. In this paper a kinetic model is proposed for these channels. In the model there are two Ca regulatory sites on the channel protein, one positive and the other negative. Cytoplasmic Ca binds to these regulatory sites i
