1. Gravity of the non-authorized use of substances not intended for clinical use in invasive aesthetic procedures: the portuguese case
O presente estudo procura aferi

2. Alterations in psychosocial health of people affected by asbestos poisoning
OBJECTIVE To analyze the state of psychosocial and mental health of professionals affected by asbestos.METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted with 110 professionals working in the Ferrolterra region of Spain, who were affected by asbestos poisoning. This group was compared with a group of 70 shipyard workers with no manifestation of work-related disea

3. Vestibular function evaluation by subjective visual vertical in patients with Parkinsons disease / Avaliação da função vestibular através da vertical visual subjetiva em pacientes com doença de Parkinson
Introduction: Postural instability is a late manifestation of Parkinsons disease (PD). The impairment of postural responses on PD is probably the most important cause of falls. These postural responses depend on vestibular, somatossensorial and visual inputs, and they are integrated on basal ganglia, brainstem and spinal cord. By use of the subjective visual

4. As representações sociais de saúde e doença para os portadores de diabetes melito que procuram o serviço de diagnóstico e prevenção da retinopatia diabética
The objective of this study was to analyze the meaning of the health and illness concepts for persons with Diabetes Mellitus who attended the Prevention and Treatment Service for Diabetic Retinopatia at Hospital São Julião, in Campo Grande, MS. The study was carried through during the months of July and August in 2004, in days of outpatient attendance for

5. Caracterização dos pacientes readmitidos em um serviço de emergência / Characterization of the readmitted patients on emergency department
The great need for the Emergency Department and the resultant length of stay of the patients in repeated admissions become a hard situation for nurses, who are responsible for the administration on this units. Objectives: characterize the readmitted patients at the Emergency Department in a philanthropyc hospital; identify the socialdemographic and morbity p

6. Delirium : um estudo comparativo entre adultos jovens, adultos e idosos
This is a descriptive and comparative study of Delirium , a cerebral organic syndrome without specific etiology, characterized by the presence of simultaneous disorders of consciousness, attention, perception , thought, memory, psychomotor manifestations , emotions and of the sleeping-vigil rhythm. The duration of the disease manifestation varies, as well as

7. Mutations in the Gravity Persistence Signal Loci in Arabidopsis Disrupt the Perception and/or Signal Transduction of Gravitropic Stimuli1
Gravity plays a fundamental role in plant growth and development, yet little is understood about the early events of gravitropism. To identify genes affected in the signal perception and/or transduction phase of the gravity response, a mutant screen was devised using cold treatment to delay the gravity response of inflorescence stems of Arabidopsis. Inflores

8. Changes in Root Cap pH Are Required for the Gravity Response of the Arabidopsis Root
Although the columella cells of the root cap have been identified as the site of gravity perception, the cellular events that mediate gravity signaling remain poorly understood. To determine if cytoplasmic and/or wall pH mediates the initial stages of root gravitropism, we combined a novel cell wall pH sensor (a cellulose binding domain peptide–Oregon gree

9. The response to gravity is correlated with the number of statoliths in Chara rhizoids.
In contrast to higher plants, Chara rhizoids have single membrane-bound compartments that appear to function as statoliths. Rhizoids were generated by germinating zygotes of Chara in either soil water (SW) medium or artificial pond water (APW) medium. Differential-interference-contrast microscopy demonstrated that rhizoids form SW-grown plants typically co

10. Cytoplasmic pH Dynamics in Maize Pulvinal Cells Induced by Gravity Vector Changes1[w]
In maize (Zea mays) and other grasses, changes in orientation of stems are perceived by pulvinal tissue, which responds to the stimulus by differential growth resulting in upward bending of the stem. The amyloplast-containing bundle sheath cells are the sites of gravity perception, although the initial steps of gravity perception and transmission remain

11. Rapid Changes in Protein Phosphorylation Associated with Light-Induced Gravity Perception In Corn Roots 1
The effect of light and calcium depletion on in vivo protein phosphorylation was tested using dark-grown roots of Merit corn. Light caused rapid and specific promotion of phosphorylation of three polypeptides. Pretreatment of roots with ethylene glycol bis N,N,N′, N′ tetraacetic acid and A23187 prevented light-induced changes in protein phosphorylation.

12. Gravity-regulated differential auxin transport from columella to lateral root cap cells
Gravity-induced root curvature has long been considered to be regulated by differential distribution of the plant hormone auxin. However, the cells establishing these gradients, and the transport mechanisms involved, remain to be identified. Here, we describe a GFP-based auxin biosensor to monitor auxin during Arabidopsis root gravitropism at cellular resolu
