1. Genetic parameters, adaptability and stability to selection of yellow passion fruit hybrids
Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the stability and adaptability, using the method of harmonic means of the relative performance of genetic values and to estimate the genetic components of variance and average via mixed models of 14 genotypes of passion fruit in three environments. Data were obtained in a random block design with three rep

2. Effect of contrast and gaps between Vernier stimulus elements on sweep visual evoked potential measurements of human cortical Vernier responses
The present paper focuses on a classic hyperacuity, Vernier acuity-the ability to discriminate breaks in the collinearity of lines or edges on the order of only arcseconds of visual angle. We measured steady-state sweep visual evoked potentials (sVEPs) in response to 6 Hz periodic breaks in collinearity (Vernier offsets) in horizontal squarewave gratings. Ve

3. Controle ativo acústico estrutural: projeto, simulação e análise de qualidade sonora / Active structural acoustic control: design, simulation and analysis of sound quality
This master thesis deals with the study of active noise and sound quality control systems in automotive applications, and the innovative assessment of their performance based on relevant psychoacoustic metrics in this area such as Loudness, Roughness and Tonality. A methodology for designing and implementing active control systems based on psychoacoustic met

4. Localização e identificação de consumidores com alta contribuição para a distorção harmônica de tensão em sistemas de distribuição / Location and identification of consumers with larger contribution to harmonic distortion of voltage in power distribution systems

5. Soy production area estimates in Mato Grosso, Brazil, using MODIS NDVI time series.
Brazil is the second largest soy producer in the world, with an estimated crop of 57 million tons in 2008/2009 season (CONAB). Total planted area accounted for 21.7 million ha, 26% of which is located in Mato Grosso state (MT). Given the large extent of Brazilian soy production and its economical impact for both national and international markets, crop area

6. Frequency domain unsteady transonic aerodynamics for flutter and limit cycle oscillation prediction
The purpose of this study was to develop new approaches for predicting transonic flutter and limit cycle oscillations (LCO) using computational methods. The TSD equation is separated into the in-phase and out-of-phase components through a nonlinear harmonic averaging method. It is then solved in the frequency domain to obtain the aerodynamic forcing function

7. ROBUST VARIABLE STRUCTURE MODEL REFERENCE ADAPTIVE CONTROL APPLIED TO ACTIVE POWER FILTERS / CONTROLE ADAPTATIVO ROBUSTO DE ESTRUTURA VARIÁVEL POR MODELO DE REFERÊNCIA APLICADO A FILTROS ATIVOS DE POTÊNCIA
This works presents a Robust Variable Structure Model Reference Adaptive Control scheme denoted VSRMRAC. In this adaptive control strategy, each parameter of the control law is obtained by the sum of two other adaptive terms. One of them is associated with the RMRAC algorithm, while the other is composed of an adaptive gain rated by an approximated sign func

8. The Jitter Spatial Frequency Sweep VEP: a new paradigm to study spatiotemporal development of pattern- and motion-processing mechanisms in human infants
We introduce a new VEP paradigm - the Jitter Spatial Frequency (JSF) Sweep VEP - that permits efficient mapping of the spatiotemporal tuning of the developmental motion asymmetry (DMA). Vertical sinewave gratings undergoing 90º horizontal oscillatory displacements (6 or 10 Hz) were presented while their SF was swept over 2 to 5 octaves during each VEP trial

9. Identificação de fontes de correntes harmônicas por redes neurais artificiais / Identification of harmonic current sources with artificial neural networks
This work presents an alternative method for the identification of current harmonic sources commonly encountered in residential electrical systems. For this purpose, feasible solutions can be applied to minimize the levels of harmonic currents emission caused by nonlinear loads. Artificial neural networks are employed as alternative to conventional methods.

This work presents a different method for power quality signal classification using the principal components analysis (PCA) associated to the wavelet transform (WT). The standard deviation of the detail coefficients and the average of the approximation coefficients from WT are combined to extract discriminated characteristics from the disturbances. The PCA w

12. SYNTHESIS METHODOLOGY FOR SIMPLIFIED ZVT TOPOLOGIES APPLIED TO BIDIRECTIONAL PWM POLES / METODOLOGIA DE SÍNTESE DE TOPOLOGIAS ZVT SIMPLIFICADAS APLICADAS A PÓLOS PWM BIDIRECIONAIS
Among the soft-switching techniques, the zero-voltage-transition (ZVT) technique has been accepted well by the industry due its attractive characteristics, such as simplicity, low losses in the auxiliary commutation circuit (ACC), operation with soft-switching for a wide load range, and closest operation to the PWM converter counterpart. In three-phase volta
