1. Vapor chamber heat sink with hollow fins
A new vapor chamber heat sink with maximum fin efficiency is presented. The fins are hollow, so the vapor generated at the base flows up to the top of the fins. As a result, the heat sink is practically isothermal. A prototype of the hollow fin vapor chamber heat sink was built and tested. The prototype presented 20% less overall thermal resistance than conv

2. METODOLOGIA DE PROJETO DE CONVERSORES BOOST PARA CORREÇÃO DE FATOR DE POTÊNCIA APLIOCADA A SISTEMAS ININTERRUPTOS DE ENERGIA / A design Methodology for Boost Converters to Power Factor Correction Applied in Uninterrruptible Power Supplies
This Master Thesis presents a design methodology to a boost PFC converter operating as an Uninterruptible Power Supply rectifier input stage. This methodology defines, making use of a group of current ripples and switching frequencies, the converter minimum volume point analyzing the volumes of the boost inductor, the electromagnetic interference filter and

3. Impinging flow parallel plates heat sinks / Dissipadores termicos de placas paralelas com influxo de topo
The parallel plates heat sinks with top inlet and side exit constitute an enhanced heat transfer alternative for the local removal of electric power dissipation in microprocessors. In the present work, three parallel plates heat sinks were built and tested with variable airflow under the conditions of top inlet and side exit. The experimental results were co

4. Analise termodinamica de colunas de destilação visando a otimização energetica
The aim of this work was to develop a procedure for reduction of energy requirement of distillation columns, by a combined energy-exergy analysis approach. In the energy analysis method, the reversible column profile is used to describe heat requirementlrejection along the column. Scope for the use of intermediate heat sources/sinks and reflux reduction can

5. Projeto de dissipadores de calor aletados considerando o efeito do desvio do escoamento
The thermal design of air cooled heat sinks assembled on top of microprocessors is considered in this work. The heat sinks are assumed to be made longitudinal fins of rectangular cross section with a forced airflow. The cross section of the duct may be larger than of the heat sink, so that there is a bypass of the airflow between the heat sink and the walls

6. Anaerobic Microbial Dissolution of Transition and Heavy Metal Oxides
Anaerobic microbial dissolution of several crystalline, water-insoluble forms of metal oxides commonly associated with the waste from energy production was investigated. An anaerobic N-fixing Clostridium sp. with an acetic, butyric, and lactic acid fermentation pattern, isolated from coal-cleaning waste, solubilized Fe2O3 and MnO2 by direct enzymatic reducti
