1. Seleno- and Telluro-Functionalization of Quinones: Molecules with Relevant Biological Application
Quinones and organochalcogens are classes of compounds with great biological applicability, such as antioxidant, anticancer, anti-Alzheimer, and antidepressant activities, among others. Thus, the combination of these two classes of compounds is important to obtain new hits with biological activities that are additive or synergistic. Several methodologies for

2. Inhibition of Acetylcholinesterase by Coumarin-Linked Amino Acids Synthetized via Triazole Associated with Molecule Partition Coefficient
A previous study for the identification of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors demonstrated that the hybrid between tyrosol, the 1,2,3-triazole nucleus, and the coumarin group, namely 7-({1-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl}methoxy)-4-methyl-2H-chromen-2-one (10), has a high enzyme inhibitory activity. Here, we synthesized analogues of 10 v

3. Comparison of phenolics, antioxidant capacity and total phenol bioaccessibility of Ribes spp. grown in Turkey
Abstract In this study, anthocyanins (13), flavanols (6), phenolic acids (10), flavonol glycosides (17), antioxidant capacity, and bioaccessible phenolic content of Ribes spp., grown in Turkey were investigated. Individual phenolic compounds were identified and quantified with LC-QTOF/MS in red and black currants and hybrid Jostaberry. Significant variations

4. A Highly Selective Colorimetric Sensor for Cysteine Detection
Introducing a hybrid xanthene as a fluorophore, an ‘ensemble’-based fluorescent sensor (E)-2-(6-(diethylamino)-2-((2-hydroxyphenylimino)methyl)-3-oxo-3H-xanthen-9-yl)benzoic acid (a) was designed and synthesised for detection of cysteine. Cysteine can release CuII ion from the non-fluorescent a-CuII complex. Then hydrolytic cleavage of Schiff base a prod

5. SYNTHESIS, ELECTRONIC AND SPECTRAL PROPERTIES OF NEW 1,3,4-THIADIAZOLE COMPOUNDS AND THE SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF THEIR CONFORMERS USING DENSITY FUNCTIONAL THEORY
In this study, new 1,3,4-thiadiazole compounds were synthesised and characterised by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, UV-vis spectroscopy and elemental analysis, Furthermore, the relationship between the electronic and spectral data of the 16 conformers of each compound was investigated by theoretical calculations; the theoretical data were compared with the experimental resu

6. Two Novel Donepezil-Lipoic Acid Hybrids: Synthesis, Anticholinesterase and Antioxidant Activities and Theoretical Studies
Alzheimer disease (AD) is a complex disease related to multiple pathogenic mechanisms. A strategy to develop effective drugs is based on the so-called multi-target directed ligands (MTDL) by using hybrid compounds. So, in the present study, we have designed and synthesized two hybrids, containing the indanone-piperidine moiety of donepezil, a drug approved f

7. Synthesis and Antitrypanosomastid Activity of 1,4-Diaryl-1,2,3-triazole Analogues of Neolignans Veraguensin, Grandisin and Machilin G
Sixteen 1,4-diaryl-1,2,3-triazole compounds derived from the natural products veraguensin, grandisin and machilin G were synthesized, with yields of 78-92%. Biological activity tests against Leishmania amazonensis promastigotes showed that three of these compounds were the most active, with maximum inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of 1.1, 3.71 and 7.23

8. Chemical quality parameters and bioactive compound content of brazilian berries
There is a growing consumer demand for higher healthy foods such as berries which are a rich source of phenolic compounds. The current work evaluated blackberry cultivars: Cherokee, Tupy and Xavante; raspberry cultivars: Heritage, Fallgold and Black; and the hybrid Boysenberry. All berries were grown under homogenous subtropical conditions in Brazil. Black r

10. Recovery and reuse of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solutions by a hybrid technique of electrodialysis and ion exchange
The chrome plating industry is one of the highly polluting industries whose effluent mainly consists of chromium(VI). This compound is highly toxic to aquatic life and human health. The rinse water constituents reflect the chrome plating bath characteristics; generally dead tank wash water contains about 1% of the plating bath concentration. Other metals and

11. Experimental study and mathematical modeling of hybrid solar reactor for phenol degradationby photo-Fenton process. / Estudo experimental e modelagem matemática de reator solar híbrido para degradação de fenol em solução aquosa pelo processo foto-Fenton.
Wastewaters containing hazardous, or recalcitrant organic substances are generated in a wide variety of industrial processes. The inadequate management of these effluents can cause contamination of underground and surface water. Their treatment by conventional processes may not be technically efficient, and usually prevents effluents from being discarded or

12. Proteoglicanos de estroma mamário e fibroadenoma humanos em diferentes condições hormonais. / Proteoglycans of human mammary stroma and fibroadenoma under different hormonal conditions.
Proteoglycans are important component of the extracellular matrix, which are involved in its organization and function, as well as in many biological processes. The aim of the present study was to investigate the changes that occur in proteoglycans of human fibroadenoma in comparison to proteoglycans of human normal breast tissue during the menstrual cycle.
